Contents hide Where to find bait in Fisch All Fisch bait types list How to equip bait in FischMuch like in the real world, you won’t get far in Fisch without bait to lure in unsuspecting marine swimmers. This is especially the case if you have your eye on rarer specimens, which will only get drawn to your hook if you have bait equipped. As an added bonus, bait also boosts your rod’s base stats, notably Luck and Lure Speed, both crucial to reeling in the best catches.
Now, Fisch’s tutorial completely skips over how to get and use bait, leaving you very much on your own to figure out this core mechanic. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get bait, including the different types in Fisch.

To get bait, you’ll need to buy and open Bait Crates. These are brown rectangular boxes with a red fabric cover that appear on the starting Moosewood docks island. You’ll find them on a rock to the right of the leaderboards and the pink crystal shard. After that, you’ll come across them regularly in other locations, including Roslit Bay, Terrapin Island, and Sunstone Island. If you’re short on cash, make sure to redeem the latest Fisch codes.
Approach the crates, interact with them by tapping E, and you can then buy a Bait Crate for 120 C$ containing five bait, usually of a couple of different types. Confirm the purchase. You’ll then see a box at the bottom of the HUD called Bait Crate. Click on it to claim the bait, then click again to add it to your inventory. You can then open up your Equipment Bag and see all the bait you currently have in the right-hand column. This is where you equip bait as well.
Aside from Bait Crates, you’ll also receive bait as rewards for completing quests, including Phineas’ in Moosewood and Angler quests. You can also get bait from Volcanic Geodes and Carbon Crates, which are obtained from completing quests and fishing, or by purchasing them from merchants, including the Travelling Merchant.
Lastly, you can also get bait from simply fishing in the ocean and near islands. Every reel has the chance of producing a piece of bait, though you’re limited to the following types in the following locations:
