  • Shadow of the Erdtree has four map fragments
  • Gravesite Plain, Scadu Altus, Abyss, and Rauh Ruins

To uncover the full map in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you’ll need to track down four different map fragments. Easier said than done though as the markers on the map are somewhat deceptively positioned and a couple of the fragments are in areas that aren’t all that straightforward to access.

It’s worth trying to grab all four fragments as soon as possible to get a clearer snapshot of the map to make exploring easier. We’ll walk you through how and where to find all the map fragments.

Gravesite Plain map fragment location

The first fragment is a short distance away from where you start the expansion and clearly marked on the map. Just in case you missed it for whatever reason, it’s located at the foot of a stone pillar on the road just south of the Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain.

Scadu Altus map fragment location

To reach the Scadu Altus map fragment, you’ll need to first defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, the boss at the top of the Castle Ensis dungeon in the north of Gravesite Plain. Once defeated, you’ll enter Scadu Altus. The map fragment is located next to a stone pillar at the crossroads just north of the Highroad Cross site of grace and before the soldier camp and fire golem protecting the passage up to Shadow Keep.

Abyss map fragment location

The Abyss map fragment is located next to a stone pillar just northwest of the Abandoned Church site of grace. That likely won’t mean much to you if you’ve yet to reach the Abyssal Woods. It’s quite the mission to get there.

To start, make your way through the Shadow Keep legacy dungeon until you unlock the large door to the east of the Main Gate Plaza site of grace. Go through the door, take a left up the large staircase, then a right at the top into the area with fiery viking boats. On the northeastern side of the rampart you’ll find a ladder. Take it down, then go left, and left again into a hidden passage under a small waterfall. Go down the ladder ahead.

Continue forward until you come to a storeroom. Hit the wall enclosed in the archway on your right to reveal a hidden path. Press on until you come to a coffin. Rest in the coffin and you’ll come out near the Castle Watering Hole site of grace in lower Scadu Altus. From here, you want to make your way south to the Recluses’ River Upstream site of grace then use the cliffs and rocks to reach the Recluses’ River Downstream site of grace. From there, continue down to the Darklight Catacombs using the platforms built into the cliffside to hop down on Torrent.

Go through the Darklight Catacombs and defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor, the dungeon’s boss. Press on and you’ll come out in the Abyssal Woods near the Forsaken Graveyard site of grace. Follow the road south then east and you’ll reach the Abandoned Church site of grace and the map fragment.

Southern Shore map fragment

The Southern Shore map fragment is found just north east of the Cerulean Coast Cross site of grace in the Cerulean Coast in the far south of the map. Reaching the Cerulean is a little tricky, though by no means as gruelling as getting to the Abyssal Woods.

Start from the Castle Front site of grace just southwest of Castle Ensis in Gravesite Plain. Head south east down through a small camp and continue on until you hit a patch of poison water. From there, head north and down into a pit with a crab. In the west corner, next to a flower enemy, is a cave entrance. Follow the cave and you’ll reach the Ellac River site of grace.

Head forward into the river and go south. When you reach the waterfall, use the ledges and platforms to make your way down until you reach the Ellac Downstream site of grace. From there, take the path down to the right of the waterfall and the area will open up with a fire golem ahead of you.

Stick to the right of the area and you’ll pass under a rock formation and into the Cerulean Coast. Head south and towards the map marker on your map, past the dragon, and up the hill to find the stone pillar.

Rauh Ruins map fragment

Confusingly, the Rauh Ruins map fragment isn’t in the ruins, but instead in the deep canyon below, which isn’t accessible from the ruins themselves. To get to the fragment, start from the Moorth Ruins site of grace in Scadu Altus and head northeast to the lake marked on the map. There you’ll find a cave. Head inside and follow the path west. The area is thick with poison water and tons of armoured birds so be wary. You’ll eventually reach an area called Rauh Base and the Ancient Ruins Base.

From there, head southwest towards the map fragment marker on your map. Watch out for the two giants in the area leading down. Just before reaching a settlement called Temple Town Ruins, you’ll find the fragment sitting at the foot of a stone pillar.

Spoiler warning – below is the full map with the fragment locations marked should you need it.
