Need help completing the seasonal quest A Witness in the Dust in Diablo 4? The Season of Blood has brought plenty of new content to the table, and new quests are just some of it.

Season 2 of Diablo 4 has plenty to offer. From the new Vampiric Powers to equip to new endgame bosses to take on, there’s plenty to find. A new storyline is one of the biggest additions, and A Witness in the Dust is one of the quests you’ll have to complete. We’re here to show you how to complete this quest and earn the sweet reward.

Where to find A Witness in the Dust Quest

You’ll pick up A Witness in the Dust after completing Summons of the Deathless. Chat with Erys in the Magistrate’s Office in Ked Bardu. From there, you’ll begin the quest by following the tasks given.

A Witness in the Dust Quest walkthrough

There are several tasks you’ll need to complete in order to progress through the quest. To start out, you’ll need to enter the Fetid Mausoleum with Vampire Hunter Erys. This is simple, just head into the dungeon. From there, you’ll need to find the Profane Vampire Skull. This skull can be found next to the boss room of the Fetid Mausoleum, inside of a coffin. Interact with it, and the skull will be there.

Here is where it can get tricky. You need to complete Chapter 2 of your Season Journey to advance to the next task in the quest. This is no small undertaking, as there is a lot in Chapter 2. Here are all the objectives:

  • Forsaken Offerings: Obtain 2 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers
  • Vault Delver: Complete 8 Cellars
  • Ruins Reclaimed: Conquer a Stronghold
  • Baptized in Blood: Reach Level 25
  • Finer Clarity: Upgrade your Potion to Minor at the Alchemist
  • Path to Strength: Unlock Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Deliver Us From Evil: Rescue Villagers within the Blood Harvest, available after completing or skipping the Campaign
  • Vampire No More: Defeat a Blood Seeker, available after completing or skipping the Campaign
  • Tides of Blood: Activate a Vampiric Power that requires at least 3 Pacts, available after completing or skipping the Campaign
  • Contract Reforged: Add or remove Pacts from a piece of armor, available after completing or skipping the Campaign
  • Bejeweled: Craft a Gem at the Jeweler

The good news is that you don’t have to complete all of these. Check your Seasonal Journey tab, and after completing most of them, you’ll be able to advance to Chapter 3. This will also advance you to the next step in the quest. I’ve found that completing nine of the 11 objectives will get you to the next chapter.

Skip These

If you’re looking for the easiest objectives in Chapter 2 of the Seasonal Journey, I’d recommend forgoing Tides of Blood and Vault Delver for quicker results. However, none of them are too difficult. Many of them you’ll finish just through normal gameplay.

Once you’ve completed Chapter 2 of the Season Journey, head back to Erys in Ked Bardu. Take the Profane Vampire Skull, and place it in the Blood Well’s Basin. Activate the Blood Well, where a Blood Portal will appear. After chatting again with Erys, head through it.

On the other side, there is an Elite Sanguine Magus you need to beat. After they’re defeated, you can find the Ascended Blood Seekers Tome, and bring it back to Erys. Investigate it with her, and the quest will be complete. You can then progress to the next mission in the questline for Season 2.

A Witness in the Dust Quest rewards

For your hard work, you’ll be rewarded with the standard Gold, Experience, and Vampiric Power. However, you’ll also get a Pact of Ferocity. This can be used to fuse into Vampiric Pact Armor.

That’s all you need to know about the A Witness in the Dust quest. Make sure to check out our guide on all the Vampiric Powers in the Season of Blood to take full advantage of all the new powers available.
