This adrenaline-fuelled zombie hack ‘n’ slasher has plenty of ways to earn experience points (XP), but it will still take you a while to reach the level cap. So if you’re wondering exactly what the max level is, we can shed some light on how far you’ve got to go until you reach it.

The Dead Island 2 max level is 30, but you won’t reach that just by completing the story, as that will only take you to around level 22. In order to hit level 30, you’ll want to complete as many Dead Island 2 quests as possible as they’re the main source of XP, rewarding thousands at once as soon as you complete one.

We’d also recommend that you don’t shy away from killing any Dead Island 2 zombies you run into, especially the Apex Variants as you can net some extra XP that way. Once you do reach level 30, you’ll earn one of the many Dead Island 2 trophies and achievements called Max Headroom.

As you level up, the rarity of the weapons you find and earn will slowly increase, so while you start the game with common (white) and uncommon (green) weapons, by the end you’ll be finding rare (blue) and epic (purple) weapons all over the place. You can’t find Dead Island 2 legendary weapons (orange) as standard loot – these come in the form of quest rewards only. So if you’re wondering why your weapon quality isn’t increasing much, just keep playing – you’ll get there.
