Does Cities Skylines 2 have a map editor? The original Cities Skylines let you create custom scenarios, complete with unique terrain and goals. Players are wondering if the sequel offers the same degree of versatility.

We ranked the best Cities Skylines 2 maps so that you’ll get a headstart towards the city of your dreams. Note that this will still require you to tackle problems like high rent in Cities Skylines 2.

Can you make custom maps in Cities Skylines 2?

Currently, Cities Skylines 2 does not have a map editor for custom maps. In an official blog post, developer Colossal Order has confirmed that the feature will arrive after launch. This means that players will have to wait a while to check it out.

Cities Skylines 2 mods have received some tweaks as well. They’re coming soon too and will rely on the Paradox Mods platform and not the Steam Workshop. Both of these missing features mean that you won’t be able to tinker as much as you’d like at first. Some of these options can be accessed via Cities Skylines 2 developer mode. This also lets you place props and assets on the map at no additional cost. This enables city designers to focus on how a city looks over how it runs.

That covers the map editor in Cities Skylines 2. Custom maps can have an insane amount of potential so we hope that the game gets it soon. This would let you tinker with natural resource values and natural features. While the landscaping tool offers this to a degree, a true scenario editor would give the user free reign over their maps.

Our Cities Skylines 2 beginners guide should get you started with the game’s new features. It’s already out on PC. As for Cities Skylines 2 on Xbox and PS5, you’ll need to wait for its launch sometime in 2024.
