While killing zombies for eternity can sound like a fun time, sometimes you just want to end it on your terms. That’s why there’s been an exfil option in Zombies ever since Cold War. However, BO6 brought a few changes to the concept which may confuse both veterans and newcomers alike. That’s why we’ll explain how to exfil in Black Ops 6.

How to exfil in BO6 Zombies

To start off, you can’t exfil in any round. Instead, you can only exfil as early as round 11 and only every five rounds thereafter, meaning rounds 11, 16, 21, and so on. You will know that an exfil is possible once you hear a communication mentioning it and a walkie-talkie icon appears on your map. To start the exfil process, you have to make your way to the walkie-talkie symbol and interact with the radio to call in the helicopter.

If you’re playing with others, interacting with the radio will instead begin a vote to exfil. Others must accept the decision for the helicopter to be dispatched. The vote has to be unanimous, otherwise, the exfil is cancelled.

The option to exfil won’t last the whole round, though, so if you plan to get out of there, you need to make your way to the radio quickly. After calling in the exfil, you have to make your way to the next point – this is where you’ll exfil from. You have about 90 seconds to get to it. Once you get there, a countdown will start and more zombies will begin to spawn in the surrounding area. A green smoke signal marks the spot for the helicopter to arrive at.

The length of the countdown and the number of zombies are based on the round you’re in. The higher the number, the more zombies and longer time you’ll have to wait. You have to remain in the exfil area marked on the ground and kill all zombies. While in this area, you’ll see a zombie counter that shows how many zombies are left to kill before you can exfil. You have to kill every single one of them before the timer runs out. Otherwise, the game ends with your position overrun and the helicopter destroyed. If you manage to kill them all before the countdown, you and your team can board the helicopter and fly away.

Tips and tricks to successfully exfil in BO6 Zombies

The zombies in Black Ops 6 are far more aggressive than before, making exfilling much more dangerous and difficult. If you plan to exfil, good preparation can mean the difference between success and failure. That’s why you can do a few things before and during the attempt. We have a few tips to make it easier to get away:

Kite the horde: While your aim is to stay inside the exfil area while killing zombies, that won’t stop them from coming after you. That’s why it’s a good tactic to keep kiting them around in a circle around the area while blasting at the closest clump. This way, you should be able to remain relatively sage while whittling down their numbers.
Use your items: There are plenty of items you can get during a Zombies match that will help with exfil. Remember, most of them won’t carry over to the next one (like perks, essences, and support gear), so it’s prime time to use them. Use Cymbal Monkey and Decoy Grenade to pull zombies away from you. Similarly, use items like Sentry Turret, Mutant Injection, or Chopper Gunner to stack advantages in your favour. Every little bit helps to take down the zombies.
Use Gobblegums: Trying to exfil is the perfect time to pop a Gobblegum. The best one to use at this time is the Kill Joy, which gives you insta-kills. This way, you can mow down zombies even faster inside the escape area.
Max out ammo and armour: To prepare to escape, make sure that your ammo and armour are at max. There is often an ammo crate next to the exfil area, so always look to stock up to give yourself the best chance to succeed.
Focus down the elites: Special zombies can appear during exfil, especially in later rounds. They can be veritable bullet sponges, so always prioritize taking them down, so you don’t have to scramble to do it when the clock is ticking down.
Have a revive handy: In case you get overwhelmed, it’s good to have a backup option, especially if you’re playing Zombies solo. During the match, you can craft a Self-Revive, which can come in handy while trying to exfil.

Successful exfil rewards

If you manage to get away scot-free, you’ll earn extra XP for your effort. The amount will be nearly double what you would’ve normally gotten. In addition, if you exfil in any round other than 11, you will have a chance to win Whimsical Gobblegums. The higher the round number, the more Gobblegums you can get, as well as the higher chance of getting them. Here’s what that looks like:
