Practically overnight it became one of the most played games of all time. With that, those who still play on last-gen consoles, like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will be looking to find out whether they can join in the fun too. 

Can you play Black Myth: Wukong on PS4?

Unfortunately, the game is not available on PlayStation 4 and it’s doubtful that it will get a last-gen release. While it was launched on its younger brother, the PS5, chances are slim to none that there will be a PS4 version. 

The main reasons are the hardware restrictions that the older console faces. Black Myth: Wukong is a gorgeous game that takes full advantage of modern hardware to deliver its performance. PlayStation 4 is showing its age and can’t handle the requirements to run the game. For that reason, the release is highly unlikely.

Can you play Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox One?

Similarly, we don’t expect to see the release of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox One due to the console’s ageing hardware. The reason is largely the same as for PS4 – the older console can’t handle the hardware requirements of the game. Moreover, the game’s release on the newer Xbox console, Series X|S, has also been postponed, making the release even more unlikely. 

Even for the current flagship, the dev team ran into optimization hurdles that have delayed its launch. While we can expect the game to release on Xbox Series X|S after those issues have been resolved, and later for the game to join Game Pass, that paints a picture that an Xbox One release is completely off the table.
