  • While unconfirmed, it seems that the max level you can reach in Black Myth: Wukong is 342.
  • This interesting level cap corresponds to the number of years Sun Wukong is predicted to live in Journey to the West, the 16th century story inspiration behind the game.

Whenever you level up in Black Myth: Wukong, you get a Spark, which you can then use to improve your perks and grow stronger. We’re used to having limits placed on our powers in games, so we have to make choices on how to develop our builds. This is often represented by a maximum number of levels, skill points, and similar mechanics. So what is the max level roof in Black Myth: Wukong then? Let’s find out.

What is the maximum level you can reach in Black Myth: Wukong?

While this is unconfirmed, as it’s too soon in the game’s life cycle, it seems that the max level cap in Black Myth: Wukong is set to 342. That is the most Sparks you can get to level up your character’s skill tree.

This information was brought to light by a user on Reddit called Jojoejoe, who played around with the game’s files to increase XP gain. The process maxed out at 342, and no more XP could be earned after that point. However, there are even more potential perk points that need to be allocated, so even at max level, you won’t be able to max out all skills, taking into account all combat and survival skills, transformations, spells, etc.

✓ Pro tip

Don’t mess around with game files unless you absolutely know what you’re doing. Even if you do, always be cautious since you can completely ruin your progress or worse.

It’s going to be a long journey to get all 342 Sparks. Captured by VideoGamer

So why exactly 342 then, when it’s such an odd number? Interestingly, there’s a good reason for that and it ties into the game’s literary premise. The number coincides with the story of Journey to the West that the game draws heavy inspiration from. When reading the Book of Life and Death in the story, Sun Wukong learns that he is going to live 342 years. He then makes a deal with the ruler of the Underworld to take his name off the list and essentially become immortal.

Knowing that interesting piece of trivia lends some credence to the number being accurate. While you likely won’t reach that number on your first playthrough, remember that you can also restart the game as New Game+. This will transfer your progress from the initial run, including Sparks, items, and spells, so you can keep on levelling and potentially reach the max level by the end.
