Captured by VideoGamer – My Arisen wielding a bow. What are the best bows in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
There are more bows in Dragon’s Dogma 2 than any other weapons, so you know you have a decent selection of weapons to choose from. The damage scaling rises massively from early to mid game bows, though a lot of the better ones are only available in late-game.
Veteran’s Arc is the best early-game bow
The Veteran’s Arc is available early on in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and you’ll just have to venture on down to Checkpoint Rest Town in order to pick it up. Celeste’s Smithy will be flogging it for 21,200, and you will be able to get to this location shortly after you reach Vernworth. If you’re struggling for Gold, we’ve already had a look at money farming methods to speed up your wallet getting phat.
- Strength: 163
- Magick: 0
- Strike: 0
- Knockdown: 150
- Weight: 3.65
The Veteran’s Arc is a human-made bow designed for balance. Though it’s quite expensive, with a few Battahli upgrades it’s going to be a formidable weapon to take on most foes. This is a good weapon to burn through in the early-game, though as you begin to take on Drakes, Minotaurs, and other big bosses, you’re going to be looking for something with a little more draw behind it.
Revenant Wail is the best mid-game bow, but it’s expensive
The Revenant Wail is the perfect bow to carry through the bulk of the game. It features in Roderick’s Smithy, though the price of 55,000 is a little steep for early-game pockets. After you have a few quests tidied up, you will probably be able to afford it.
- Strength: 280
- Magick: 0
- Strike: 100
- Knockdown: 220
- Weight: 3.87
The Revenant Wail is best upgraded with Battahli smithing styles, and you will be able to spike the Strength up to 420 at it’s peak level. This is a great option for anyone looking for a weapon that doesn’t make them feel like a bystander as an Archer. Instead of your pawns doing the bulk of damage, you’re actually going to be able to contribute to bringing larger foes to their knees.
Hydra Husk is the ultimate end-game bow
The Hydra Husk is the bow you’re going to want if you’re looking for the ultimate end-game weapon for Archers that you can take into New Game Plus. Costing 75,000 Gold, this is one of the more expensive weapons you can get in the game that isn’t from the Dragonforge. The next best bow, the Dragon’s Rancor, is actually a little bit weaker, so you’re going to have a better time with this one instead.
You can only unlock the Hydra Husk by completing the True Ending to the game.
- Strength: 163
- Magick: 0
- Strike: 0
- Knockdown: 150
- Weight: 3.65

There’s a decent blend of Human bows and Elvish made ones too. If you’re considering upgrading any of these, then your best bet is to head to Bakbattahl.
✓ Amaar’s AdviceYou can sneak into Battahl
If you complete the Sphinx riddles early on in the game, you’re going to be able to head on down south and sneak around the Battahl border. You will come out just beyond the gate sealing the two halves of Checkpoint Rest Town.
Though it’s difficult to get there, you’re going to see much better returns in Strength increases.
What Vocations can wield bows in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
The Archer vocation can wield bows, but so can Warfarers and the Magick Archer. Although the stat distribution for Warfarers is nowhere near as powerful as Archers, this vocation has access to all weapons in the game. This gives you a very varied playstyle that’s optimal for quickly darting through the game.
Is the Magick Archer better than Archer for bows?
The Magick Archer vocation has a little bit less Strength distribution than a regular Archer, though it sees a higher Magick stat. You’re going to be able to cast more spells and play with a varied attack style with this one.
