How to remove Bloodless in Baldur’s Gate 3? You meet plenty of interesting companions in Faerun and their personal quests can intertwine with your own. A certain vampire spawn feasts on your blood one night and you’re suddenly blessed with a debuff.

Read on to learn more about the Bloodless condition and if your protagonist can fix it. If you’re just diving into the Dungeons & Dragons setting, here’s how to rest in Baldur’s Gate 3. And if you’re stuck on turn-based mode, here’s how to exit turn-based mode in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to remove Bloodless in BG3?

Bloodless grants a -1 to attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks. This status effect can be removed by taking a long rest at camp in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can also use a Paladin class for Lay on Hands or a Cleric’s Lesser Restoration.

Shadowheart should be able to use the latter early on. These can cure the target of any diseases or any negative effects like Bloodless. Bless and Guidance are two spells that improve dice rolls and counteract Bloodless effects. Later on, spells like Feign Death, Heroes Feast, and Heal can help you overcome this condition. While this debuff might sound like it’s all bad, there’s a silver lining.

Astarion gains the Happy status effect after drinking your blood. You can choose to give him your blood whenever you perform a long rest at camp. Note that you need camp supplies to do so. These necessary supplies can be obtained from chests, barrels, and crates in the game or via vendors.

This Happy effect grants him a +1 to attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks. Astarion can also get this buff by using the Bite attack in combat on an enemy. Here’s how to leave camp in Baldur’s Gate 3 now that you’ve got your buff and debuff of choice in BG3.

Should you let Astarion drink your blood in Baldur’s Gate 3?

When it happens the first time, letting Astarion drink your blood improves his approval and opens up the possibility of helping him with his personal quest. It’s an interesting story so it’s worth accommodating him in your playthrough. Astarion’s happy buff doesn’t cost much and doesn’t drastically suppress your character’s features. If your main character isn’t big on dealing damage or can tackle the debuff, it’s a good tradeoff.

Lower rolls, particularly saving throw rolls, can deal a lot of damage to your character. The Lesser Restoration spell can be learned by Baldur’s Gate 3 classes like Bards, Clerics, Druids, and Rangers right at level 2. Since this is near the start of the game, you don’t have to risk saving throws (or make a fatal saving throw) just because of a party member.

Picking the Assassin subclass as a Rogue, Astarion can deal an absurd amount of damage with extra attacks and Sneak Attacks. Pair this with the Happy condition and you can see why it might be worth the trade. This might not make sense if your protagonist deals more damage with two-handed swords or with Rage as a Barbarian. Here’s a best Baldur’s Gate 3 Rogue build for his lethal attacks.
