Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shaping up to be the first real ‘next-gen’ entry in the series, which naturally means heftier demands on our dusty old hardware for those brave enough to play on PC. A quick peek at the system requirements suggests as much; you’re going to need at least a 3060Ti paired with a i5 11600K or Ryzen 5 5600K if you don’t want the settings dialed way down to low and staccato frame rates.

There is, however, another option for those nursing an aging potato: dipping into the world of cloud streaming and one service leads the charge here – NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW. Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already been confirmed for day one availability on the service as well. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the details around AC Shadows on GeForce NOW.

When will Assassin’s Creed Shadows be playable on GeForce NOW?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available to play on GeForce NOW on launch day, March 20, 2025, for those that own either a Steam copy of the game or are playing via Ubisoft Connect, the publisher’s own launcher and storefront. NVIDIA confirmed all this in a news piece published at the end of February, counting AC Shadows among 14 must-play titles for this spring. High praise.

Marketing dross aside, this is splendid news for those intent on cloud streaming the game as it will be available alongside the worldwide release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, though not on Game Pass. If it’s your first time using GeForce NOW, the service has three tiers to choose from, including a free one, though with some serious restrictions, as follows:

TierPriceBenefitsFreeAd-supported– Longest queue times
– 1-hour session lengths Performance$9.99/£9.99 per month– short queue times
– 6-hour session lengths
– 1440p QHD
– RTX ONUltimate$19.99/£19.99 per month– shortest queue times
– 8-hour session lengths
– DLSS 3
– NVIDIA Reflect
– Cloud G-Sync
– 4K HDR
– 240 FPS
– RTX ON

If you ask us, the Performance tier is the better option. Six hour sessions give you plenty of time to get nice and cosy with Shadows without being interrupted. 1440p is a touch as well and we won’t complain about RTX-enhanced puddles and reflections being thrown into the mix.
