Wondering how to play VS Saxton Hale in TF2? Even if you’re a veteran TF2 player, you might never have tried out this game mode, as before now it’s only been available on certain community servers. But with the game mode finally becoming official, you’ll finally be able to try it out on Valve servers, too.

If you’re having trouble with the TF2 inventory not available error, we’ve got a guide to help you quickly fix this. For now, though, let’s take a look at how to play VS Saxton Hale in TF2, as well as going through what the game mode itself is all about.

What is VS Saxton Hale?

VS Saxton Hale is a game mode where one player takes control of the eponymous Saxton Hale, and must kill the other team full of players before they kill him. Hale has no weapons besides his fists, but he makes up for this with massive health, fast movement speed, and a huge jump. These can be a little tough to get the hang of at first, but once you do, they make Hale a terrifying prospect.

On the other side, players fighting Hale choose one of the nine classes as usual, and have to try and whittle down his health while avoiding getting hit by him at all costs, as one hit will kill you. Some great options are Scout, Soldier, and Demoman, because of their great movement options, but every merc can be a threat to Hale if played right.

How do you play VS Saxton Hale?

Unfortunately, the only way to play VS Saxton Hale right now is on community servers. Though four official VS Saxton Hale maps were added in the recent Summer 2023 Update, because of a bug with the game mode, they were quickly removed and we are still waiting for them to be restored.

If you’re wanting to try it out, you can still do so on the community servers that have been running the mode long before the recent update. Open up your server browser, and in the ‘Map’ section, type ‘vsh_’. This will show you all of the servers currently running VS Saxton Hale maps, and from there, simply take your pick of which map you’re wanting to try out.
