The Tears of the Kingdom Lost Woods seem impenetrable. Whether you go in on the main path or try to drop in from above, you can never get past that gloomy fog. To get through requires a bit of clever thinking and some exploration.

Forget all your Tears of the Kingdom Skyview Towers, and get ready to deal with some Tears of the Kingdom Gloom Hands, as to get through the Tears of the Kingdom Lost Woods, we’re going underground.

The Lost Woods are located in the far north of Hyrule, between the Hebra and Eldin regions. It is a large forest covered in a thick, purple fog, which will send the player back to the entrance if they walk too far in. At the centre of the Lost Woods is the Korok Forest where you’ll find the Great Deku Tree.

If you try and walk in through the front like in Breath of the Wild, or try and jump in from a nearby Sky Island, you’ll find yourself back at the start. That’s why the only feasible entrance is through the Depths.

How do you get through the Lost Forest using the Depths?

Just like normal, you need to find a chasm to reach the Depths. On the road leading to the southeast entrance of the Lost Woods you’ll find the Minshi Woods Chasm. Jump in here and you’ll see a trail of poes leading into the darkness, and a Lightroot in the distance. This Lightroot is your rough destination, so keep it in mind.

Follow the trail of poes, and use lightbloom seeds to light your way along the path. As you round the corner, you’ll come across an area on your left with an assortment of Zonai Devices lying around. This is important because the upcoming area is covered in gloom, and riding a Zonai Device prevents you from taking damage. Build yourself a vehicle of your choice and begin moving forward again.

As you get closer, you should notice another lit-up area in front of you with a large stone pillar leading to the ceiling. This is your final destination. You can, of course, simply go here first, but we would recommend heading to the Lightroot first, so you can simply teleport here in future. If possible, try and avoid continuing along the path with the poes, as you’ll eventually draw the attention of a collection of Gloom Hands, which you’ll either have to run away from or fight off.

Once you’ve reached the area with the large pillar, climb up to it and stand directly underneath it. Use your Tears of the Kingdom Ascend ability to climb all the way through the pillar. This will let you bypass the Lost Woods, coming out in the Korok Forest directly in front of the Great Deku Tree.
