Clarisse is a 5-star Front-position Fire Knight in Lost Sword. Her kit focuses on strong damage at the beginning of battle, additional attacks while Desperate Will is active, and debuffs that increase the damage enemies take or reduce their healing received. The development team also describes her as an early-battle attacker whose personal strength falls during longer fights while her damage-taken debuff continues to improve the party’s overall output.

Clarisse is not designed as a purely defensive Knight. Her Ultimate and Active Skill both deal ATK-based damage, while her passives increase Attack, Critical Hit Chance, Skill Damage, Ignore Damage Reduction and Attack Amp. Her build should therefore improve her opening damage without leaving her too fragile for a Front-position character.

Damages all enemies; gains an additional hit and applies a damage-taken increase during Desperate Will

Passive 2

Hero of the Holy Sword

Increases Clarisse’s Attack and Critical Hit Chance

Penetration

Penetration deals ATK-based damage to all enemies. While Clarisse has Desperate Will, the Ultimate adds another ATK-based hit and applies a debuff that increases the target’s damage taken. This allows the Ultimate to contribute both direct AoE damage and party-wide offensive support.

Spinning Slash

Spinning Slash attacks enemies in the forward area. During Desperate Will, it adds another hit and applies a stacking reduction to healing received. This effect gives Clarisse a clear role against teams or enemies that depend heavily on healing.

Desperate Will

Desperate Will activates at the beginning of battle. It increases Clarisse’s Skill Damage, Ignore Damage Reduction and Attack Amp for its duration. It also enables the additional effects attached to Penetration and Spinning Slash, making it the central mechanic of her kit.

Hero of the Holy Sword

Hero of the Holy Sword increases Clarisse’s Attack and Critical Hit Chance. The Critical Hit Chance increase is particularly important for gearing because it allows Critical Damage to become more valuable when her total crit rate is high enough to produce consistent critical hits.

Best Gear Overview

Lost Sword uses four main equipment categories: Weapon, Armor, Accessory and Rune. Each slot has its own possible stats. Weapons are the main source of offensive substats, Armor provides defensive rolls, Accessories focus primarily on HP, and Runes can provide either Critical Damage or HP% depending on the intended build.

Best Weapon Stats for Clarisse

Knights use Swords, and Lost Sword’s general gearing guidance recommends Swords with ATK% and Critical Damage lines for Knight characters. The Weapon slot can roll ATK, ATK%, Ignore Damage Reduction, Critical Damage Increase and Priority.

Clarisse’s recommended Weapon priority is:

ATK%

Critical Damage

Ignore Damage Reduction

Priority

ATK% is the most dependable offensive stat because both Penetration and Spinning Slash scale from ATK. It also strengthens every damaging hit rather than depending on a critical hit.

Critical Damage works well with Hero of the Holy Sword because Clarisse already increases her own Critical Hit Chance. It becomes especially valuable when her overall crit rate is consistent.

Ignore Damage Reduction is useful against enemies that possess Damage Reduction. It reduces that defensive stat additively, but it does not provide the same benefit against targets without Damage Reduction. Clarisse already receives Ignore Damage Reduction from Desperate Will, so Weapon rolls should still prioritize ATK% and Critical Damage before treating additional Ignore Damage Reduction as the main goal.

A Sword with multiple useful ATK% and Critical Damage lines is better for Clarisse than a higher-level weapon filled with unrelated rolls.

Best Armor Stats for Clarisse

Clarisse’s Armor should be selected by its stats, not by an unsupported character-specific item name. Armor can roll HP, Defense, DEF%, Block Chance Increase and Crit Resistance Increase. Lost Sword gearing guidance recommends Crit Resistance first, followed by Block Chance and DEF%.

Armor Stat

Priority

Purpose

Crit Resistance

1

Reduces the danger of enemy critical hits

Block Chance

2

Gives Clarisse a chance to double her DEF against a hit

DEF%

3

Flat DEF

4

Flat HP

5

Additional survival value

Crit Resistance is the safest main Armor target because Clarisse stands in the Front position and is exposed to enemy pressure. Block Chance is valuable because a successful block doubles DEF for that hit. DEF% remains useful, although its value experiences diminishing returns as more defensive stats are accumulated elsewhere.

The best Armor for Clarisse is therefore the strongest available Armor piece with good Crit Resistance and Block Chance rolls. An Armor piece with two or more useful defensive lines is preferable to one that only raises Combat Power.

Best Accessory Stats for Clarisse

Accessories have a much narrower substat pool than Weapons or Armor. Their available special stats are HP and HP%, and the general recommendation is to stack HP% on this slot.

Accessory Stat

Priority

HP%

Highest

Flat HP

Secondary

Clarisse should use an Accessory with as many HP% lines as possible. The extra HP helps her remain active during the opening phase and survive long enough to use Penetration, Spinning Slash and their attached debuffs.

ATK%, Critical Damage and Critical Hit Chance should not be listed as standard Accessory substat targets because they are not part of the normal Accessory special-stat pool described in the Lost Sword gearing system.

Best Runes for Clarisse

Runes can roll ATK, HP, HP%, DEF, Critical Damage Increase and Priority. For DPS characters, Critical Damage is the primary offensive Rune stat. HP% is the alternative when survival is more important.

Critical Damage Rune

A Critical Damage-focused Rune is Clarisse’s main offensive option. It complements the Critical Hit Chance supplied by Hero of the Holy Sword and increases the damage of successful critical hits during her early burst window.

Critical Damage should be prioritized when Clarisse already survives the stage and can use her skills reliably.

HP% Rune

An HP%-focused Rune is the correct adjustment when Clarisse cannot stay alive in the Front position. It sacrifices some damage but increases the chance that she remains active long enough to apply her damage-taken and healing-reduction debuffs.

Flat ATK and flat DEF can appear on Runes, but they are lower-priority outcomes than Critical Damage for offense or HP% for survival.

The standard build should combine ATK% and Critical Damage on the Weapon, Crit Resistance and Block Chance on Armor, HP% on the Accessory, and Critical Damage on the Rune.

When Clarisse struggles to survive, keep the same Weapon and Armor direction but replace the offensive Rune with an HP% Rune. Her Accessory should remain HP%-focused in both versions.

Main Goal

Strong early damage against durable targets

Ignore Damage Reduction becomes more valuable when the enemy actually has Damage Reduction. Against enemies with high Critical Resistance, ATK% becomes more reliable than investing too heavily in Critical Damage.

Preordained Defeat Card

Preordained Defeat is the card introduced alongside Clarisse. At the beginning of battle, it increases the caster’s damage dealt. When that buff expires, it applies a debuff that increases the target’s damage taken. These effects follow the same combat rhythm as Clarisse’s kit: strong opening pressure followed by a debuff that supports later party damage.

Final Build Recommendation

Clarisse should be built as an early-battle Fire Knight with offensive Weapon and Rune stats supported by defensive Armor and HP-focused Accessory rolls.

Her most reliable setup is:

Weapon: ATK% and Critical Damage

Armor: Crit Resistance, Block Chance and DEF%

Accessory: HP%

Rune: Critical Damage, or HP% when more survival is required

This setup directly supports her confirmed mechanics. ATK% improves Penetration and Spinning Slash, Critical Damage benefits from Hero of the Holy Sword, and defensive Armor plus HP% help her remain active in the Front position. Clarisse’s purpose is to deliver strong opening damage, trigger the enhanced effects of Desperate Will and leave enemies vulnerable to the rest of the team.
