28 Years Later's Latest Trailer Has A Hidden Message That Unlocks A Secret

28 Years Later is one of the most anticipated horror movies of the year. Picking up the series after 2007's 28 Weeks Later, 28 Years will launch a new trilogy exploring the aftermath of the vicious Rage Virus that rampaged through the UK in 2002's original 28 Days Later. The latest trailer also hides a chilling message for the most eagle-eyed fans.

Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo are being eyed for major Street Fighter roles.
PostsAfter yesterday's teaser with the familiar horrifying rendition of Boots over the top of flashing footage of the rising violence, today we got our second full trailer after the original dropped last year. As well as officially confirming once and for all that the dessicated zombie we see is not Cillian Murphy's Jim from the original movie, it also hides a code - and not a particularly uplifting one.
28 Years Later's Trailer Tells Us: Memento Mori
CloseAs decoded by Film Stories, the symbols that flash during the trailer are PigPen ciphers which spell out 'memento mori'. This is Latin for 'remember you will die', and is often used to mean that death is an inevitability of life, and so you must try to make the most of life. But also, you don't really matter. Cheerful stuff.
This is not just a thematic message though - it's also a password. If you head to rageleaks.net, which purports to be an in-universe archive of research into the Rage Virus, entering the password will bring up a classified report. Entitled 'Lindisfarne Commune', after the Holy Island setting of 28 Years Later, fans can get hints at the wider world the film will explore. You can check out the message below.

PostsThe virus brought us more than the rage.
The sorrow, for our lost home. The guilt, for the ones we left behind. The righteous indignation for the secrets being kept from us.
It’s been almost 28 years since the outbreak. And still, not a single shred of truth about what’s really going on. They say it’s to protect us. It’s for our own good. After all this time, what are they still hiding?
They classify satellite images. They forbid any communication with survivor communities. They suppress rumors and discredit reports that somehow, the infected have adapted.
They don’t want us to see. But we must bear witness. All of us.
We'll find out exactly what it means when 28 Years Later arrives in cinemas on June 20 this year. It will be followed by 28 Years Later 2: The Bone Temple, which is to be directed by Candyman's Nia Da Costa, rather than Danny Boyle who helmed the original two and will return for 28 Years Later.
