When it comes to commissions in the HDD inZenless Zone Zero, puzzles are inherently part of the challenge. But no puzzles take the cake quite like Bangboo Golden Town does. With several unique mechanics, all revolving around your own greediness, the key is knowing when to pinch pennies or blow it all on rewards.

Whether you want to help Nice Bear pay off his debt, hoard up on loot, or simply beat one of the hardest puzzles in the game, Bangboo Golden town is the place to be to strike it rich - or lose it all on a misplaced bet.

How To Unlock Bangboo Golden Town: Revisit

In order to unlock the quest Bangboo Golden Town: Revisit, you will need to have reached Chapter Two Intermission, and have completed the prerequisite commission Bangboo Golden Town: First Visit.

Once these prerequisites are met, Clara will message you on Inter-Knot, and you can accept the commission.

Bangboo Golden Town: Revisit Walkthrough

While Bangboo Golden Town: Revisit is an exploration commission, there are some combat elements that should be prepared for. Unfortunately, the nature of these combat encounters can be quite random, so it is hard to know exactly what Ethereals you will face.

Before entering the Hollow, it is recommended that your Agents be Level 42. The weaknessess of the Ethereals varies, so bring in a team you're confident with - that will ultimately be more important.

The majority of the Ethereals you could face are weak to Ice and Ether - consider including these Attributes on your team. Nicole and Soukaku are great F2P-friendly Support options.

Entering Bangboo Golden Town

When you first begin the commission, you will be prompted to enter combat. This combat scenario is critical, as it allows you to recruit Kind Bear.

Kind Bear is an NPC who has been trapped in Bangboo Golden Town by crippling debt. Once rescued, he will give you enough Gear Coins to make it through the first toll. Fairy will also explain that, if you manage to earn 500,000 extra Gear Coins, you can pay off Kind Bear's debt.

While paying off Kind Bear's debt isn't required to gain an S-Rating in this commission, it's the right thing to do - morally, at least.

Puzzle Mechanics

The core mechanic of Bangboo Golden Town is to accrue enough Gear Coins to bypass vaults and fully explore the map. There are, of course, pitfalls, but there are a few strategies to maximize your earnings throughout.

Unlike in other Hollows, vaults will automatically open whenever you land on their tile - Fairy does not give her usual dialogue and pause the game. You will need to be extremely careful about where you move, lest you accidentally open a vault.

Different floors have different vault payment methods that become increasingly difficult as you descend deeper.

Certain "question mark" tiles mark unique blockades that also require Gear Coins to bypass. Sometimes they simply require a larger amount of Gear Coins, but the most difficult ones require you to give up half your Gear Coin value. Accessing these blockades early is key to saving your Gear Coins.

Lastly, there are three areas to navigate in Bangboo Golden Town - the first floor, the second floor, and the random maze floor.

Floor One

The first floor of Golden Bangboo Town isn't that significant. Each vault leads to a profit in Gear Coins once unlocked, so we recommend fully exploring this area.

From where you spawn, you can move right, then up to find a question mark tile leading to your first Hollow Data Set. Go to this area first, as it will require you to pay half your Gear Coins.

The best strategy you can follow is to fully explore this floor and pay all of the vault and blockade requirements first, then stock up on Gear Coins after the entire map is open.

You will want to pay all of the tolls, then collect as many Gear Coins throughout the map as you can. This floor has two amazing tiles you can reach, represented by prismatic shards on the HDD screen. These tiles are Activated Crystals, and they allow you to double your Gear Coin total. Activate these tiles once you believe you have as many Gear Coins as possible.

Make sure to open the "question mark" tiles before activating the crystal tiles, otherwise your doubled Gear Coin value will be lost when you lose half.

While there are many Gear Coins to be earned on this floor if you properly utilize the crystals, there are a few hazardous areas to be cautious of.

One of these is the unethical hospital, which, while not inherently dangerous, can lower your chances of success if not utilized properly. We do not recommend using the unethical hospital at all, unless you are desperate for healing.

There are also a few Danger Areas tiles (represented by glowing purple screens) that should be avoided. You can work around most of them by unlocking vaults or taking a different route around it.

To finish the first floor, you will need to navigate to the right side of the HDD and pay a 5,000 Gear Coin toll. Once this is done, you can proceed to the second floor.

We do not recommend ignoring the toll and "paying with your blood," as ultimately, 5,000 Gear Coins is a small sum, and you will need your Agents healthy for later.

Floor Two

Floor Two becomes significantly more difficult, as now all the tolls are equal to ten percent of your total earnings. Because of this, it is critical to explore the area and unlock vaults early on, then stock up on Gear Coins later. Your decisions on Floor Two are much more important to saving up enough coins to help Kind Bear.

From where you spawn, you will want to move down and left towards the "Z" tile to unlock access to the rest of the map. You will then be moved to a large, central grid.

You will want to move directly down towards the large, square map filled with Gear Coins. The sooner you unlock that area, the fewer tiles will be turned into vaults by the Golden Bangboos.

Essentially, the Golden Bangboos will move and turn Gear Coins into vaults. Collect as many Gear Coins as you can, and if you can manage it, catch the Golden Bangboos by moving onto their tile.

Once caught, you will accidentally kill the bangboo - but it's death will not be in vain! You will want to select the option that gives you one hundred percent more Gear Coins for doing jobs - this will come in handy later.

Each direction you move - either down, left, or up, will have a red button in the general area. Pushing this button will reveal a new tile in the spawn area that represents a job you can do for "quick cash."

With the square cleared out of Gear Coins, move down to push the red button, and move towards the red tile with a man on it. He will offer you a Lucky Cat, and you should pay the 5,000 Gear Coins to buy it, as it will increase the Gear Coins you get for doing jobs.

Save the rest areas for later, if you do not need them now.

Next, return to the spawn area and move to the left towards the "newspaper tile."

This newspaper will tell you what directions you need to move in to avoid traps and collect additional Gear Coins.

Starting from the newspaper tile, you will need to move:

  1. Up
  2. Up
  3. Left
  4. Up
  5. Left
  6. Left
  7. Down
  8. Left
  9. Left
  10. Up

Hit the red button and unlock part of the path to the far left side of the map. Once this is done, do this trail in reverse to get back to the newspaper tile.

Once back at the newspaper tile, you will need to move:

  1. Down
  2. Down
  3. Left
  4. Down
  5. Left
  6. Left
  7. Up
  8. Left
  9. Left
  10. Down 
Hit the red button and unlock the last part of the path. Once this is done, do this trail in reverse to get back to the newspaper tile.

Now, follow the Gear Coins to the left, where you will find a square area with Gear Coins and another Lucky Cat vendor. Buy the cat, then move up to unlock the path to the Activated Crystal.

However, even though the path to the Activated Crystals is cleared, you do not want to use them yet. Return to this area later once you have collected more Gear Coins.

The Maze

Next, you can return to the spawn area and go upwards. Press the red button, then move right towards the bangboo tile. This will take you to a whole new area of the map - a giant maze that must be navigated.

In this maze you will find Gear Coins, another Hollow Data Set, and another Lucky Cat - so be sure to explore everywhere.

The Hollow Data Set is located all the way up and slightly right from where you spawn. You can unlock the vault to claim it, then continue navigating to the left and exploring the maze.

Like in other parts of the map, you will earn about as many Gear Coins as you lose from opening vaults, so we recommend fully exploring the area. Once you purchase your Lucky Cat, you can move up and unlock a new area on Floor Two- the exit is at thetop-left of the maze.

When you return to Floor Two, you will see an Activated Crystal tile above you, and several Gear Coins below you. Collect the Gear Coins before activating the crystal tile. Then, go up and collect all of the Bangboo Plug In coins.

Finishing The Commission

With the Bangboo Plug Ins in hand, you will want to return to the far left side of the map, where you left the Activated Crystals behind. Here, you can use the plug ins to their fullest capacity.

Stand in the center tile, then use all of the Bangboo Plug Ins. This should generate 126,000 Gear Coins. With the Bangboo Plug Ins used and the coins collected, activate each of the crystals to quadruple your coins for a total of 504,000 Gear Coins.

If you still don't have enough Gear Coins, fear not! We have a solution for that too. In the bottom left corner of the center box of the map there is a job you can complete, represented by a tile that looks like an escalator. With all of the Lucky Cats collected, this job should earn you 150,000 Gear Coins each time you complete it.

In order to finish the commission and pay off Kind Bear's debt, you will need 660,000 Gear Coins before proceeding to the right by paying the 20,000 Gear Coin toll at the "question mark" tile.

Going to the right, you will run into a few roadblocks, the first being a series of bangboos offering massages. Take the bottom route, then proceed right. Next, two bangboos will challenge you to arcade games - take the top route and continue right. Lastly, a "question mark" tile is blocking the final Hollow Data Set - pay 100,000 Gear Coins and collect it.

You will then have to hit a combat tile where, after a quick fight with a random elite Ethereal, you are free to pay off Kind Bear's debt and leave Bangboo Golden Town!

For completing Bangboo Golden Town, you will earn:

  • 2 Bangboo Algorithm Modules
  • 4 Senior Investigator's Supply Boxes (if found)
  • 2 Elite Investigator's Supply Boxes (if found)
