Yaoling: Mythical Journey - Best Charms To Unlock First

There are many ways to get stronger in Yaoling: Mythical Journey. Collecting more Yaolings and levelling them up, gathering Talent Jades to beef up your strongest fighters, and recruiting NPCs to live and work at your village are just a few. But sometimes the basics are the best, and the basics here are your collection of Charms.

Meep, Flenny, or Bungo? This first choice in Yaoling: Mythical Journey may be the most important one of all.
PostsThink of Charms as your basic consumable items - they grant you access to powerful magical effects that can change the tide of battle very quickly. From the very beginning of the game, you should be thinking about your Charm crafting endeavours and which Charms to unlock as you make progress through the game.
How To Unlock More Charms
To unlock Charms, you'll need to be at the Charm House at your village. While there, the third option down, Charm Research, will open up a technology tree that allows you to spend Spirit Gems on new Charm Recipes.
Spirit Gems can be acquired through normal combat, but you'll get the most by completing Yaoling Keeper battles.
Many Charm unlocks will be gated behind two things:
- Previous Charm unlocks.
- Charm House level.
Keep these in mind when focusing on a particular Charm you want to unlock.
Which Charms To Unlock First
The following Charms are very good early-game goals:
Charm
Description
Summon Golem 1
This Charm can summon a very useful Golem to the field temporarily. This is fantastic for battles where your tank falls early or for party compositions that are low on defensive abilities.
Healing 1
You'll acquire many Healing Charms throughout your journey, but having a way to craft them yourself is some precious insurance. In addition, you'll need to unlock this Charm before you get any of the more powerful supportive Charms anyway.
Advanced Seal
This should be researched early on as acquiring new Yaolings is very important.
Silence
Being able to stop a Yaoling using its ability, even for a short amount of time, can mean the difference between victory and defeat. It's best used when a weak Yaoling on your side needs just a little more time to use their own ability.
Decree
This is like a 'reverse taunt' that makes your Yaolings target a particular enemy. Great for important fights against large armies where one target is more threatening than others.
Suspension
While this Charm will stop a target even being attacked, it doesn't stop your Yaolings attacking other targets and gathering mana in the meantime. This is a fantastic support Charm with many applications.
Fortify
This Charm is quite situational, but incredibly useful against tough bosses whose main strategy is to cause massive amounts of knockback.
