Yu-Gi-Oh!'sCyberstorm Access brought with it support for plenty of weaker archetypes in need of some assistance and introduced a new Fairy-themed archetype too. In total, the set has 100 cards in the TCG — 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, 10 Secret Rares, and one Starlight Rare card.

If you're a fan of a certain Arc-V archetype full of Machine-type monsters or enjoyed the TCG-exclusive Gold Pride cards, there's plenty here for you. If you enjoy other archetypes, there's still probably at least one card here for you.

Superheavy Samurais

Superheavy Samurais are a beloved archetype that received quite a bit of support in Cyberstorm Access. Superheavy Samurai monsters can attack while in Defense Position and apply their high DEF totals for damage calculation instead of ATK.

Many Superheavy Samurai effects cannot activate if you have a Spell or Trap card in your GY.

Superheavy Samurai Brave Masurawo

This boss monster packs a whopping 4000 defense and can attack in Defense Position. It also allows you to destroy another Superheavy Samurai card you control if a Superheavy Samurai monster you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect.

This plays well with new additions to the archetype — multiple Pendulum monsters.

Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi

This cardcan place a Superheavy Samurai Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your other Pendulum Zone (except for another copy of itself) then it can special summon itself.

As a monster, Wakuashi can Special Summon a Superheavy Samurai Monster from your hand or Deck in Defense Position, but locks you out of summoning monsters outside Superheavy Samurai monsters.

If it is used as a Synchro Material and added to your Extra Deck face-up, you can place it back into your Pendulum Zone.

Wakaushi is a Tuner, which allows you to set up for a Synchro Summon by placing one card in your Pendulum Zone and then setting yourself up for the same combo next turn.

Superheavy Samurai Monk Big Benkei

This powerful Pendulum Monster has strong effects in both the Pendulum Zone and the Monster Zone. In the Pendulum Zone, Benkei can add a Superheavy Samurai Soul from your Deck to hand once per turn.

In the Monster Zone, it can Special Summon itself from your hand at the cost of sending the original Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei from hand or Deck to GY. If the card is used as a Synchro Material and is sent face-up to the Extra Deck, it can be placed in the Pendulum Zone again.

When combined with Wakaushi, these new Superheavy Samurai cards can easily summon Level 12 Synchros. Alternatively, combine it with other Superheavy Samurai monsters to summon the full gamut of the archetype's Synchro Monsters.

Superheavy Samurai Commander Shanawo

A Synchro Pendulum Monster, if you Synchro Summon Shanawo, you can Special Summon one Superheavy Samurai monster from your GY or face-up Spell & Trap Zone, then you can place it in your Pendulum Zone.

If your opponent's monster declares an attack while in the Pendulum Zone, Shanawo can Special Summon itself, change that opponent's monster's ATK to zero, and negate its effects. Shanawo gives the deck some much-needed negation in lieu of being able to use cards like Infinite Impermanence and Dark Ruler No More.

Superheavy Samurais won't top any major tournaments with this new support, but these cards make the Deck a fun rogue option that can contend with many established Decks.

Gold Pride

The TCG-exclusive Gold Pride archetype returns for Cyberstorm Access after receiving an initial wave of support in Photon Hypernova. Now, the Deck has a clear game plan and can execute it pretty well.

Gold Pride - Better Luck Next Time!

This is a Continuous Spell Card that lets you add a Gold Pride monster from your Deck to your hand at the cost of LP equal to that monster's ATK on activation. When a Gold Pride Extra Deck monster "tags out," you get to draw 1 card. Drawing cards is always good in Yu-Gi-Oh, and being able to do so when your Gold Pride cards get their core effects off is pretty strong.

Make sure your opponent doesn't destroy your Continuous Spell and limit your draw power.

Gold Pride - Chariot Carrie & Gold Pride - Pin Baller

The archetype received two Extra Deck monsters as additional support. Chariot Carrie is a Rank Three XYZ Monster that acts as Captain Carrie's "tag-out" option. You can also detach an XYZ Material to add a Gold Pride Spell card from your Deck to hand, and if your LP is lower than your opponent's, you can send a Gold Pride Monster from your Deck to the GY.

Use Chariot Carrie's effect to consistently have access to Better Luck Next Time!, then you can take advantage of the card's on-field effect once Chariot Carrie tags out.

Pin Baller is a Fusion Monster summoned with the effect of its Main Deck counterpart, Gold Pride - Roller Baller. Roller Baller can, during the Main Phase, Quick Effect Fusion Summon a Gold Pride Fusion Monster using materials from your hand or field. You can use this effect to dodge negation or destruction effects and summon a powerful Extra Deck monster.

Once you get Pin Baller on the field, its effect can turn the tide of battle. You can equip monsters your opponent controls up to the number of Materials used to summon it and if your LP is lower than your opponent's, this effect cannot be negated.

Mannadium

The Mannadiums are an archetype of Fairy monsters that generate resources by destroying their own cards. The best ways to do so are through two powerful but rare cards — Visas Starfrost and Peaceful Planet Calarium.

Visas Starfrost

Visas can easily Special Summon itself from your hand by destroying a monster you control with a different Type and Attribute. Summoning Visas in this way can start your plays in two different ways.

First, you can summon the archetype's Tuner monsters, Mannadium Fearless and Mannadium Meek, due to Visas' presence on the field. Secondly, you'll activate Peaceful Planet Calarium's effect, which can recycle a destroyed Tuner monster you control.

Mannadium Prime-Heart

This card becomes immune to card effects if Synchro Summoned using a Mannadium Tuner and can attack a number of times during each Battle Phase up to the number of Tuners used for its Synchro Summon.

Unlike many other monsters, this effect does not say "attack monsters" but "can attack a number of times," meaning you can attack directly multiple times.

Mannadiums combine well with other archetypes that utilize destruction effects to start their combos and can be splashed into many other Decks to improve their power. You'll likely see Visas Starfrost in many other decks, so get used to seeing him.

Firewall

The new Firewall archetype acts as a subset of the overall Cyberse archetype that interacts with the "Firewall" Extra Deck monsters. Like many Cyberse support cards, these cards will activate their effects when used as material for the Link Summon of a Cyberse monster.

Firewall Defenser & Firewall Phantom

Defenser does just what its name implies - it can banish itself from the GY to protect a Firewall monster you control from destruction and Special Summon a Firewall monster from your Deck. Phantom adds a Cynet Spell/Trap from the Deck to your hand at the cost of discarding a card and can banish itself from your GY to shuffle another Cyberse monster from your GY back into your Deck.

These cards offer niche support and can find a place in your deck, but they aren't game-changers by any means.

Firewall Dragon Singularity

Singularity is a Link-6 Link Monster that acts as the archetype's new boss monster. It allows you to target and return to the hand monsters your opponent controls, up to the number of different card types you control or have in your GY. Singularity can also Special Summon Cyberse monsters from your GY if a monster this card points to is destroyed by battle — including your opponent's cards.

You may be able to return up to four different monsters your opponent controls to their hand or Extra Deck, which can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Firewall currently lacks the standalone support to exist without the rest of the Cyberse archetype, but it's a nice start that can be built upon for future releases. Plus, you could always just introduce these cards into your greater Cyberse deck.

Tellarknights

Tellarknights also received a few new pieces of support, including a new XYZ monster and some Main Deck monsters.

Tellarknight Lyran

This card can Special Summon itself from your hand when you Normal Summon another Tellarknight or Constellar monster, allowing you to immediately start making XYZ plays. On summon, Lyran also fetches a Tellarknight Spell from your Deck to your hand.

Tellarknight Altairan

When Altarian is Summoned, you can target and destroy cards on the field equal to the number of LIGHT and DARK XYZ monsters you control. If Altairan is in your GY, you can Special Summon it from there when another Tellarknight of Constellar monster is Special Summoned to your field.

There's a clear synergy between Lyran and Altairan, so use Lyran's Special Summon effect to activate Altairan's GY effect and fill your field with Tellarknights.

Tellarknight Constellar Caduceus

This Rank Four XYZ monster allows you to add a Tellarknight or Constellar card in your GY to your hand upon XYZ Summon.

Once per turn, you can also banish a Tellarknight or Constellar monster from your hand or Deck and detach a material to give Caduceus that banished monster's effect that activates when it is Normal Summoned. Caduceus' banish effect will likely be used sparingly but can come in handy in certain situations.

Use Caduceus to recycle your Tellarknight and Constellar cards, then set up your board for future plays.

The "Lore Archetypes" - Branded, Bystial, Despia, Dogmatika, Kashtira, Swordsoul, Tri-Brigade

We should also mention that the "Lore Archetypes" receive more support in Cyberstorm Access, much like they do in every modern expansion. These cards are called "Lore" cards because their artworks depict connecting narratives across different archetypes that just so happen to interact well with one another.

Among the most important pieces of support are:

  • Guiding Quem, The Virtuous powers the Despia archetype by sending a Fallen of Albaz to your GY, then Special Summons it when a card leaves the Extra Deck, allowing you to start your Branded Fusion plays.
  • Despian Luluwalith, which gives the usually-Fusion-centric Branded archetype access to a Synchro monster, cannot just negate a face-up monster on the field but also Special Summon a LIGHT Spellcaster monster.
  • Albion the Sanctifire Dragon, another Branded Fusion Target that's immune to card effects and can Special Summon itself from the GY
  • Bystial Dis Pater, a Synchro Monster that can retrieve a banished LIGHT or DARK monster by Special Summoning it to your field and can also destroy or negate an effect by shuffling a banished monster from either side of the field back into the deck.

Get used to seeing these cards, too — they'll be tournament-viable immediately.
