A reliable Xbox insider has suggested that the rumoured layoffs that are coming next month are "the big one", and that the company might only have "a few more years" left.

It's no secret that Xbox has been having a very rough couple of years, with this console generation being its toughest yet by far. That being said, things have started to look up over the past few months, with new CEO Asha Sharma saying all the right things to fans, changing its approach to exclusives, and seeming to take the brand in a more positive direction.

All of that, combined with an excellent Xbox Games Showcase that had something for everyone, has made the future seem very bright for Xbox. That changed today after Sharma released a memo outlining how much money Xbox was losing and the need for a "reset", which many took as a sign of layoffs. A reliable insider has now confirmed that's the case.

Xbox Insider SneakersSO Says Upcoming Layoffs Are "The Big One"

They Also Suggest There's Only "A Few Years Left"

Shortly after Bloomberg's article about the incoming layoffs was posted, reliable Xbox insider SneakersSO (who has been right many times before and has even been backed up by Jason Schreier) took to NeoGAF to share their thoughts on it. SneakersSO said that this round of layoffs is "the big one", backing up claims that it'll be huge and potentially take out a studio.

In the same thread, SneakersSO went on to say that they're looking forward to whoever does "the ultimate breakdown of the collapse when it's all over", before claiming that there are "a few more years" of having to put up with "this", presumably meaning Xbox. That's quite the bold claim, but it's not the first time that someone has suggested Xbox is on its way out.

Xbox co-creator Seamus Blackley recently said that he believes Asha Sharma was brought in to "sunset" Xbox.

While the memo released by Sharma does paint the picture of a struggling company, it does seem a little far for Xbox to be done with in a few years time, especially with it being committed to the Helix and having plenty in the works. SneakersSO is very reliable, though, so these layoffs may end up being much more serious than any of us are expecting.
