Galaxy Black Xbox Series X Pre-Orders Are Still Available At Best Buy

Summary
- Pre-orders for Xbox's Galaxy Black Series X are still available at Best Buy.
- The new model has 2TB of storage and will be released on October 15, 2024.
- It's not as powerful as the PS5 Pro, but it has the same amount of storage and a disc drive and costs $100 less.
The differences in power and capability between the Xbox Series X and the PS5 are razor-thin, but they are there. Even though Xbox is lagging way behind PlayStation this gen in terms of sales, it has a slightly more powerful console. That won't be the case for long as even though the exact specs are yet to be revealed, the PS5 Pro will almost certainly be more powerful than the Series X. Xbox may have an advantage over the PS5 Pro sales-wise heading into the holiday season though as its new Series X is considerably cheaper than PlayStation's enhanced console.
Phil Spencer noted a while ago that there wouldn't be a mid-gen upgrade for the Series X like there was for the Xbox One and, unlike the promise he made about Indiana Jones And The Great Circle not coming to PS5, that seems to have stuck. Rather than releasing a more powerful Series X for the 2024 holiday season, Xbox is selling two new models of its main console and one new Series S model. The biggest and most expensive of the three, the Galaxy Black Series X, is still available to pre-order right now at Best Buy.
I know Spencer was referring to the first batch of Xbox exclusives - Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea Of Thieves - releasing on other platforms when he made that Great Circle comment, although social media would suggest the rest of you have forgotten.
The Galaxy Black Series X, along with the other two new Xbox console models, will be released on October 15, 2024. At $599.99, the new Series X is the most expensive of the three models, but $100 cheaper than a PS5 Pro. Yes, the PS5 Pro is more expensive because it's more powerful, but before you count out the new Series X, if you're yet to buy a current-gen console, or you're looking to upgrade now we're almost four years in, will you really be doing $100 more with a PS5 Pro than you would with a Galaxy Black Series X?
Xbox's Kinda Sort-Of Mid-Gen Upgrade Is $599.99
And It Has 2TB Of Storage And A Disc Drive
via XboxOutside of the undefined enhancements the PS5 Pro brings with it, one of the biggest upgrades compared to a base PS5 is 2TB of memory. As the sizes of games balloon to what were previously unfathomable new heights, a console with as much memory as possible is a necessity for some in 2024. The Galaxy Black Series X has 2TB of storage. It also has a disc drive so you can play any compatible Xbox games you already own physical copies of. The PS5 Pro is digital only, and it'll cost another $80 for a detachable disc drive if you want to use it to play physical media.

$600 at Best Buy Expand CollapseIf you are in the market for a new console, you have options. You don't need to spend $700. You don't even need to spend $600. The new Series S model, which has 1TB of storage, is only $349.99. If you're dead set on owning a PS5, PlayStation will soon be selling refurbished digital-only PS5 consoles for the same price.
