World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery has now been (mostly) discovered. Adventurers throughout the world scoured Azeroth and managed to find all 12 runes for each class. Now that all the information is available, and we have to wait for Blizzard to let us go beyond level 25, it is the perfect time for some brainstorming.

World Of Warcraft: Best Races For A Druid

What Druid race you should choose will depend on if you're looking for PvP, PvE, and other details. Learn more about this here.

Posts

These are the best rune combinations available for each class in Season of Discovery (three runes maximum, one for your gloves, chest, and legs, respectively).

This list is focused on leveling and solo content and features a build for each class.

Druid

The most broken Druid build in Season of Discovery uses everyone's favorite form: Cat. This form boosts melee attacks, which will get even stronger when we slot our three selected runes.

  • Wild Strikes Rune : This rune engraving goes into your chest slot and gives you (and all party members within 20 yards) a 20 percent chance to get an extra attack that deals more damage.
  • Savage Roar Rune : This roar is a simple 30 percent buff to physical damage done while in Cat Form. The perfect ingredient in this feline-only build. It slots into your pants.
  • Mangle Rune : Last but not least, we have Mangle, which replaces your Claw ability when in Cat form. This does an insane 300 percent normal damage and makes the target take more damage from effects like Bleed and Shred for a full minute. It is engraved into your gloves.

Hunter

This build focuses on your pet, which will become so strong that it might as well be petting you once you've fed it all these runes.

  • Heart of the Lion Rune : This instant spell buffs your stats and all of your allies by ten percent. Guess what? Your pet is your ally; you don't really need any friends when playing this build. You'll put this in your chest slot.
  • Kill Command Rune : Give your pet a license to kill, buffing the damage it deals with special attacks for 30 seconds. It is simple but effective. This one is a rune engraving for your pants.
  • Beast Mastery Rune : This beautiful rune increases your pet's health and damage by 30 percent and transforms its Growl into a taunt. It goes into your gloves.

Mage

This one is a match made in cold, icy heaven. You'll make Jaina Proudmoore look like an amateur once these three runes are combined.

  • Fingers of Frost Rune : The icy catalyst. This gives you a 15 percent chance to make your next two spells work as if the target were Frozen, even if they aren't. This will make sense once we reach the third rune. It goes into your chest.
  • Icy Veins Rune : This is a must in pretty much any Mage build, and it's no exception here. It increases your spell-casting speed by 20 percent and prevents you from being pushed back while casting. You'll equip it in your leg slot.
  • Ice Lance Rune : Our one-shot cannon. Ice lance deals quite a bit of frost damage under normal conditions, but this damage is tripled against Frozen targets. It synergizes perfectly with Fingers of Frost and becomes an icy lance of pure death. It's engraved into your gloves.

Paladin

Paladins can do anything they want with this rune build that covers mana sustain, single target, and AOE damage all at once.

  • Divine Storm Rune : Our chest rune. This causes 110 percent of weapon damage to a maximum of four enemies around you within eight yards. It will heal you and up to three party members by a quarter of the damage done. It costs 12 percent of base mana, but that will be no issue here.
  • Exorcist Rune : This leg rune makes your Exorcism castable on any target (instead of just Undead and Demons) and makes it a sure crit for those two aforementioned enemy types. This is your explosive single-target damage.
  • Crusader Strike Rune : Here is our sustain: an instant attack that regenerates two percent of maximum mana. It will allow you to spam Divine Storm much more often, which in turn gets you a lot more healing. You'll engrave it into your gloves.

Priest

In Season of Discovery, priests don't have Shadow Form yet. The talent cannot be acquired at level 25, which makes us have to adapt our DPS plans. That's exactly what this build achieves.

  • Void Plague Rune : A simple disease that causes shadow damage over 18 seconds. Just keep it on all your targets and let it consume them. Void Plague is a chest rune.
  • Homunculi Rune : This is our main defensive tool, an ability that creates three mini-copies of you. They'll attack your target and reduce their attack speed, attack power, and armor. You'll engrave it in your legs slot.
  • Penance Rune : A versatile tool that can blast your enemies with holy damage or heal a party member in times of need. Penance will go into your gloves.

Rogue

Poison build is the way to go for Rogues in SoD. Poison charges need to be bought in Classic WoW, but this combination of engravings will let you have an effective poison build even if you don't want to make that investment.

  • Deadly Brew Rune : This chest rune will level up your venomous game considerably. It applies Deadly Poison whenever you apply any poison to a target. It also allows you to proc Instant Poison as if you had one applied in your weapon.
  • Envenom Rune : Our legs rune is the big single-target burst damage. It deals poison damage that scales with how many Deadly Poison stacks we have on our target. It also buffs the frequency with which you can apply Instant Poison for a short while.
  • Mutilate Rune : Mutilate synergizes beautifully with the rest of our build. You'll attack with both weapons at once, dealing 20 percent increased damage to targets that are poisoned. You'll engrave this rune in your gloves slot.

Shaman

The most powerful shaman build goes completely into the elemental caster fantasy. You'll be dealing a ton of damage while still being quite safe in solo play.

  • Overload Rune : This is simply a tool to buff our third rune. It gives a 33 percent chance for Lava Burst to cast a second, weaker version of it automatically that costs no mana at all. Overload is a chest rune.
  • Shamanistic Rage Rune : Your one-minute cooldown defensive tool. This will reduce all damage you take by 20 percent for 15 seconds while also regenerating your mana. This rune will be engraved in your legs slot.
  • Lava Burst Rune : A big single-target damage that automatically critically strikes if your target has Flame Shock. It's pretty strong in itself, but with Overload's passive buff, it just becomes incredible. It will slot into your gloves.

Warlock

Yes, we know Metamorphosis is absurd, but don't you want to deal tons of damage? You'll blast your enemies through time and space with this explosive build.

  • Lake of Fire Rune : This chest rune makes your Rain of Fire leave a pool that increases all fire damage you deal to enemies in it by 40 percent for 15 seconds. Our first piece to the fiery puzzle.
  • Incinerate Rune : Your legs rune will Incinerate your enemies with a ton of instant damage and, guess what? Increase the fire damage they take by 25 percent for 15 seconds. And yes, it stacks with Lake of Fire.
  • Chaos Bolt Rune : Chaos Bolt deals a ton of fire damage and cannot miss or be resisted as long as your enemies aren't four levels higher than you. With the 65 percent increased fire damage buff, this spell becomes ridiculous. It is a gloves engraving.

Warrior

As much as Victory Rush gives us some much-needed sustain, we had to forfeit it for our Rage-fueled Season of Discovery build. You'll be seeing nothing but red.

  • Flagellation Rune : This simple passive effect gives you a 25 percent bonus to physical damage done for 12 seconds after using Bloodrage. The rune fits into your Chest slot and perfectly into your Rage build.
  • Consumed By Rage Rune : As the name implies, this passive enrages you and gives you 20 percent more melee damage for 12 strikes after you reach 80 rage. It is the only way you can proc Enrage before level 25, so it's a must-have. It is a legs rune.
  • Single-Minded Fury Rune : This gloves rune gives you more damage while dual-wielding and a ten percent movement speed buff, which is fantastic in a game where you'll spend most of your time walking.
