Along with World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's release, extra care was given to the reworking of professions. Many had thought that professions had fallen to the wayside in recent years, but now, each of them is more powerful than ever, granting players gear boosts and much-needed consumables.

Alchemy, one of the classic professions that raiders have come to rely on, was just one of many that received such an upgrade. However, between the new specializations and the myriad amount of recipes to unlock, it can be overwhelming to try and parse through. As such, here's everything you need to know about alchemy in Dragonflight.

Overview

Alchemy in World of Warcraft is the refinement of herbs gathered through Herbalism into potions and flasks, which have been renamed into phials. These consumables, which can heal or give a temporary boost to stats, bring a huge boon to any angle of content, including world content, PvP, and endgame raiding, making an alchemist's products highly sought after.

However, Alchemy cannot function without the necessary herbs. Unless you want to hand over a fortune through the Auction Housefor quick reagents, it's a good idea to pick up Herbalism as your second professionto gather them yourself.

If you have an alternate character that's made for gathering and can mail the reagents over, you can pick up something that utilizes the ores that they mine as well, such as Jewelcrafting or Blacksmithing.

Dragon Isles Alchemy can be taught by several trainers throughout the four new zones introduced in Dragonflight, but your main trainer will be Conflago in Valdrakken, who can be found next to the Artisan's Consortium.

You'll be revisiting this area often, as you'll be speaking to Gohfyrr for necessary items like Draconic Vials, and you'll make use of the Alchemist's Lab Bench for several of the harder recipes.

Once you've acquainted yourself with Conflago and the alchemists' hub, it's smart to craftprofession equipment for yourself or buy it off the Auction House. Although you don't necessarily need it to begin crafting your potions, it provides quality stats that you otherwise would not have. Like any other profession in WoW, alchemists can equip one tool and two accessories.

Alchemy Potions

Potions are often considered the bread and butter of Alchemy. They'regenerally easier to craft than phials, but they're either weaker or have a shorter duration, usually only lasting a few seconds. They can offer effects ranging from instant healing and mana regeneration to dealing damage after you've died or resurrecting yourself.

Reagents

Alchemists can craft a number of reagents. Some can be used in other Alchemy recipes, like Omnium Draconis in experiments, while others are used by different professions for their own recipes.

How To Rank Up In Alchemy

In order to rise through the ranks of Alchemy, you must simply craft any potion or phials available to you. The grind from level one to level 50 isn't bad and does not take long at all, especially if you have a good amount of herbs in supply already.

  • First, you'll want to craft two orders of Refreshing Healing Potion, as that is the only potion available. This should push you over the level five mark.
  • Pick up the Aerated Mana Potion recipe from Conflago and craft a couple of those to attain level ten.
  • Learn Reclaim Concoctions, and use the potions you just made for Dragon's Alchemical Solutions and level fifteen.
  • Learn the Omnium Draconis recipe from Conflago and make as many as you can. You'll need these and Dragon's Alchemical Solutions for experimentation.
  • Upon reaching level fifteen and higher, learn the Basic Potion Experimentation and the Basic Phial Experimentation recipes. These will be the main way of discovering new recipes and boosting you into the upper ranks of Alchemy, as they continually guarantee level ups.
  • From here, there is no set rule, as the random nature of experimentation can lead to a different outcome for everyone. Continue to experiment and craft whatever potions and phials you discover.
  • Upon reaching level 50, learn the Elemental Potion of Power and craft a few for the experience gains.
  • After level 50, ranking up will slow dramatically. Continue to repeat the cycle of experimenting and crafting whatever potion or phial you encounter along the way. Some notable consumables that can guarantee level ups at high ranks are Phial of the Eye in the Storm, Phial of Elemental Chaos, and Residual Neural Channeling Agent.

Alchemy Specializations

As you craft new potions and phials for the first time and do quests for your trainer, you'll accumulate points called Dragon Isles Alchemy Knowledge. These are used to train yourself in certain specializations, of which there are three.

By choosing a talent tree to invest in, you're able to unlock new passive abilities to help you create higher-quality consumables.

Potion Mastery

This first specialization, Potion Mastery, is self-explanatory. If you dedicate yourself to this tree, you'll become a master of all things potions, able to craft them with higher efficiency and quality. You'll also be able to unlock a few unique recipes, such as the Potion Cauldron of Power.

Phial Mastery

Much like the first, Phial Mastery allows you to specialize in phials and long-lasting consumables. Not only will you be able to create phials quickly with limited resources, but you'll gain the chance to create multiple phials with one recipe.

Alchemical Theory

The last specialization, Alchemical Theory, is different from the others. It may not benefit your recipes right away, but instead, it allows you to discover and create further recipes, such as the toxic potions and phials or Transmute: Order to Elements.
