How To Reset A Character's Talent Points
High Factotum Janris Danrok is one of the many crew members on the Von Valancius flagship that introduce themselves at the end of the Prologue. He can be found near the Galaxy Map, standing by a console just off to the side opposite the Command Throne.
Speaking to Janris allows you to respec any member of your party; select the dialogue option that states your retinue is in need of training, and he'll bring up the talent reset screen.
Resetting a character's Talents lets you choose new upgrades for every Rank that they've earned by leveling up, even ones that they earned before they joined your retinue. You cannot, however, change their base stats and skills, nor their Homeworld, Origin, or Starting Archetype.
You can change a character's second Archetype, in case Vanguard Cassia isn't working out for you like you thought it would.

PostsHow To Create Custom Companions
If you have a very specific party build in mind, or you've fired your entire retinue because you suspect them of heresy and treason, Janris also allows you to recruit custom companions by telling him that you wish to recruit skilled fighters. Doing so brings you to a Character Creation screen similar to the one at the beginning of the game.
Custom characters have all the same options available to them as the Lord Captain, but they do not get a Moment of Triumph or Darkest Hour. They also cannot be xenos or abhumans, so no filling out your entire team with Astartes and Drukhari.
