But before you can experience any of the new game modes or progression systems in the Whispers in the Walls update, you must first complete the titular-named quest. This guide will walk you through every step in the Whispers of the Walls quest, including how to start it and what completing this quest unlocks.

How To Start The Whispers In The Walls Quest

The "Whispers in the Walls" quest will automatically unlock after completing The New War quest. You technically need to complete Heart of Deimos as well, but this quest is a prerequisite for The New War. Once both quests are complete, simply open your inbox and read the message from Loid. This will let you start the quest from your Codex aboard the Orbiter. Start the quest and visit the Necralisk to get started.

The New War is a major narrative quest that has a long list of quest prerequisites. You can find the exact unlock requirements in our New War quest guide, but so long as you complete every Junction and Codex quest, you should gain access to Whispers of the Walls without much issue.

Mastery Rank Requirement

Digital Extremes has removed all Mastery Rank requirements for questlines as of Update 35. You can complete every quest regardless of your account's MR, including Whispers in the Walls.

The Kalymos Sequence

After you start the quest, select the quest node for the Necralisk on Deimos, A cutscene will play before you arrive at the Entrati hub. Speak with Necraloid and follow him through the Necralisk hub. He will guide you to the back of the hub area and state that the Kalymos Sequence is now in effect. The depths of Deimos will now be open to you.

Follow the winding stairs and enter the depths of the Necralisk. You will encounter a new enemy faction called The Murmur, consisting of ancient Entrati defenses and Void abominations you'll become intimately familiar with in a moment. For now, focus on reaching the opposite end of the facility, killing any Necramech drone that stands in your way.

Murmur Weaknesses

The Necramech drones are most vulnerable to Corrosive and Blast damage. Void entities are weak to Radiation damage.

Unlike other factions, the Void entities are highly resistant to Viral and Slash damage. Adjust your loadouts accordingly if they prove too challenging for your current build.

Loid will detect an ancient Grimoire from Albrecht nearby. Pick up the Grimoire to proceed. This is a secondary weapon that fires slow-moving projectiles that detonate on impact, similar to the Laetum's Incarnon Form. It features infinite ammo and a unique alt-fire that releases a ball of energy, shocking targets near the orb with guaranteed Electricity procs.

After you've cleared out the enemies, you will find the Sanctum Anatomica, the second hub world of Deimos. Speak to the various NPCs there and return to Loid to progress the quest.

The Year 1999

Albrecht's constructs require an Operator to interface with. Activate the PC in the Sanctum and begin the hacking minigame. The CRT monitor will begin to display strings of strange symbols. You want to focus on the bottom row.

Your goal is to hold the jump button as long as possible without inputting any red characters. Once you start seeing red characters, let go of the jump key until the sequence passes them. Press jump again, and repeat the process until transference has been established.

Now that you've linked with the construct, you will be transported to the year 1999 in a different timeline. You will temporarily take control of Arthur, a character that has Excalibur's powers and his iconic Warframe suit. Make your way to the escalators nearby.

A wave of mutated TV creatures will begin to swarm your location, not too dissimilar from the Infested. Survive as long as possible. You can bullet jump, use all four of Excalibur's powers, and have two weapons at your disposal. Your melee weapon is especially powerful here. Once you've killed enough Infested, execute the last enemy to finish the sequence.

Locate The Auricle

Loid seems to have observed what happened, as he comments on Albrecht and the strange smile he gives towards Arthur. It's clear that Albrecht still out there, but the Kalymos Sequence requires you to complete a few more tasks on Deimos before the constructs become fully operational. Your first goal is to find the Auricle. In other words, you'll need to complete a Mirror Defense mission.

This level works exactly like Citrine's Mirror Defense mission on Mars. Your goal is to defend the objective for a set duration. Unlike your typical Defense mission, Glyphs can be found floating around the battlefield. Collecting 50 of them will partially heal the objective and activate defense pylons for the rest of the wave. Once the objective is clear, travel to the next objective. The mission will end after the next wave.

Enter The Laboratories

This mission is a much easier variant of Netracells, an extremely difficult endgame activity that unlocks after the quest is complete. Each Netracell run will start with an Exterminate objective. Once you reach the Netracell chamber, you'll need to kill as many enemies as possible. The more enemies you kill, the lower the alert level will be.

Necramite Drones

Periodically, Necramite Droneswill spawn near the edges of the map and halt your progress. You must follow the waypoint on your HUD to find their approximate location. Drones tend to float near walls and pieces of cover, so keep your eyes peeled.

Once complete, the Netracell doors will open, revealing a room from the year 1999. Collect the item and head to extraction.

Back in the Sanctum, use the PC to watch Albrecht's recordings. He has left you a blueprint for some device that must be crafted in your Orbiter. This craft takes 99 seconds and can be rushed at no cost. Head to your Orbiter and forge the item.

A New Voice

It turns out Albrecht's blueprint was for a gargoyle statue. Before you return to the Sanctum, bring a strong AoE weapon modded for Radiation damage. This next mission includes many Murmur enemies that are quite vulnerable to Radiation.

The Sanctum is under attack by Murmur forces. Fight your way to Loid's location and plant the gargoyle on the desk. This will trigger a boss fight of sorts. You must damage the Murmur enemies until they become immune, at which point you must interact with the statue to make them vulnerable again. This must be done twice to finish the fight.

After you fully lower the boss' HP, the construct will become enraged and attempt to grab your Operator. Thankfully, they transferred into the nearby dormnat construct in the nick of time. Hold the interact key to subdue the hostile construct.

Loid Dialogue Decision

With the Murmur threat dealt with, there's one last objective before the quest ends. The next time you speak with Loid, he will comment on the last comment he heard from Albrecht. The dialogue option you pick will adjust your Operator's moral alignment. It does not have any impact on the outcome of this quest.

Moral Alignment

Dialogue options made in certain Warframe quests will shape your Operator's moral values. The Sun alignment represents passion, Moon follows pragmatism, while Neutral is a mix of the two.

Currently, your moral alignment has no impact on gameplay systems or quest outcomes.

Dialogue

Outcome

"...that it was always watching."

Shifts alignment towards Sun.

"...that this was no way to remember me."

Shifts alignment towards Neutral.

"...that he wasn't worthy."

Shifts alignment towards Moon.

This quest will end shortly after selecting Loid's dialogue option. You will now have access to the Sanctum Anatomica hub, new Deimos nodes, the Cavia Syndicate, and weekly Netracell runs. Complete the new activities on Deimos to unlock new mods, the Helminth Coalescent Segment for the Helminth system, and parts for the Qorvex Warframe.

Completing this quest will also grant a fully-ranked Grimoire weapon, complete with a pre-installed Orokin Catalyst. You can further enhance this weapon with Tome Mods, an exclusive category of mod that offers utility effects for your Warframe and allies. These mods can be found in Rotation C of Deimos' Mirror Defense node.
