Wuthering Waves features a variety of support characters, and Taoqi is one of the most excellent ones. She is a four-star Havoc character who excels at parrying and defense while wielding a Broadblade and helps you sustain your team with her shield.

Taoqi may seem like an easier character to use on the surface, but you have to be good at parrying attacks to make her shine at her full potential, which requires a lot of practice. Once you get the hang of using her kit properly, Taoqi may be one of the most fun characters in the game to play.

Focus On Taoqi’s Defense

If you’re building Taoqi, you should focus on her defense since most of her kit scales with it, except for her basic attacks. Most of the damage you’ll be dealing with her comes from her successful parries, her Resonance Skill, and her Resonance Liberation, so we recommend increasing Taoqi’s defense as high as possible.

Focusing on the defense stat also increases her survivability, making it easier for beginners who have a tough time dodging and parrying attacks. If you upgrade her Resonance Chain using her Wavebands, you can fortify her defensive capabilities to a great extent.

Use Taoqi’s Outro Skill Before Switching To Your DPS

Taoqi’s Outro Skill grants any incoming Resonator a 38% damage bonus on their Resonance Skill for 14 seconds, making it easy for your DPS character to deal tons of damage. The Outro Skill synergizes well with her other support mechanics, making her an excellent addition to any team.

However, there aren’t many Resonators in the game that exclusively focus on their Resonance Skill to deal damage. Encore and Havoc Rover are two Resonators that can genuinely make use of Taoqi’s Outro Skill bonus to its maximum potential. So, you should always use her Outro Skill before switching to your DPS.

Taoqi Shines In Boss Fights

Taoqi relies heavily on parries, and she truly shines during boss fights. Her Forte allows you to parry an attack and perform three consecutive attacks that deal Havoc damage. Each attack after a successful parry consumes one charge of her Resolving Caliber and grants your character a shield. The more charges you consume, the stronger the shield will be.

Against regular mobs, Taoqi can be a little difficult to use, since most regular Tacet Discords don’t attack that frequently, making her parry less useful in such fights. In this case, you can use her Resonance Liberation, which can instantly deal a ton of damage to all the enemies in front of her.

Use Her Resonance Skill Often

We suggest you to use her Resonance Skill: Fortified Defense often, as it has a variety of functions. It heals her instantly while dealing damage to enemies at close range and grants her three charges of Rocksteady Shield. If she is attacked while casting Fortified Defense, Taoqi will automatically trigger a successful parry, allowing you to counterattack, and gain a shield.

If your team isn’t attacked during the duration of the skill, the Rocksteady Shield charges are converted into Taoqi’s Resolving Caliber charges, which can then be converted into a strong shield by using Taoqi’s Intro Skill or a successful parry.

The only drawback of her Resonance Skill is that the Fortified Defense has a 15-second cooldown, which is quite long compared to a lot of other characters.

You Can Parry With Her Intro Attack

Taoqi is a supporting character, so she won’t be spending too much time on the field when you’re fighting against bosses or mobs. However, when the need arises, and you see a parry window, you can quickly swap your DPS character with Taoqi, activating her Intro Skill that will automatically perform a successful parry while also dealing damage.

Her Intro Skill is extremely useful in battles where you can’t risk swapping out your DPS character for too long, such as in the Tower of Adversity, where you want to finish the fight as soon as possible for the extra rewards.

Don’t Rely On Her DPS Potential

Taoqi is best built as a support character for your team; you can use her as a Sub-DPS, but it is less efficient than using a pure support build. You will spend less time on the field attacking enemies because her basic attacks don't deal a lot of damage, and she excels at providing your team with survivability and immobilizing bosses with successful parries.

Do not focus on upgrading her attacking abilities from the Forte menu, as it's best to use your materials in upgrading other skills that can boost her support capabilities a lot more. We recommend you upgrade Resonance Liberation a lot more for better support.

While, Taoqi is an excellent support character, she doesn't offer healing to other teammates, so it's suggested to have an additional healer on your team.
