Element types are a very common mechanic in creature collection games. So, it's no surprise that they also feature in Voidling Bound. A Voidling's element type impacts what sort of status effects they inflict on the opposition and which types of enemies they're effective against.

What's interesting is that creatures aren't tied to one or two specific element types. For instance, there are a few different Kwipecks you can acquire, including organic, fire-based, or ice-based versions. Here is a breakdown of every element type in the game.

Every Element Type

Not counting the base Neutral one, there are five different elemental types in Voidlingbound.

  • Organic

The Organic type is this game's version of a plant or poison-based type. So, their icon is green, and they can inflict the slow and poison status effects.

Highly effective against Lesion-spawns and Ancients.

  • Pyro

Voidlings that are the Pyro type are fire-based. So they can often burn their opponents and inflict fear. Their icon is orange.

Highly effective against Lesion-spawns and Crystallines.

  • Cryo

Cryo Voidlings are the ice-based creatures in the game. Therefore, their icon is blue, and they can freeze the enemy, meaning they can provide the frostbite and frostbite stun status effects.

Highly effective against GenBots and Ancients.

  • Cyber

The Cyber type is reminiscent of the electric type seen in other games. These Voidlings can give the enemy the static and lure effects. And their icon is yellow.

Highly effective against Genbots and Crystallines.

  • Plasma

The Plasma Voidlings are the most special types in the game. They can inflict the disintegrate and float effects. Their icon is purple and pink.

They're effective against all types of enemies.

How To Give A Voidling An Element Type

When you hatch a Voidling, they aren't always a specific type right from the start. Instead, they're classed as Neutral. But you can make them something more interesting by using the Evolution Chamber to turn them into a specific type.

To do this, you have to have the creature equipped from the Sanctuary menu. Then, enter the room beside where Leon typically stands. In the back right of this room is the Evolution Chamber.

Go into it, and choose to evolve your creature. You will then have to select a path. Which Voidling it is affects the path options you have, but each one usually has you infuse the creature with an element.

You can only make certain creatures a certain element type through evolving. For instance, Kwipecks can't evolve into Cryo Kwipecks. Yet, you can sometimes find a Cryo Kwipeck through an egg.

When evolving, you can only select a type if you've got the right mutagens for it. For instance, to turn a Voidling into a Pyro type, you need a Pyro mutagen. You can pick up the mutagens from enemies, elemental rifts, and as mission rewards.
