10 Video Game Characters That Would Give The Best Presents

When it comes to giving the best presents, there’s a lot to keep in mind - it’s not as easy as picking up the first thing you see on the shelf. The best gift-givers wouldn’t just give you run-of-the-mill socks for Christmas; they’d put a lot of thought behind each of their gifts.

The friends of these characters are certainly lucky when it comes to the holiday season, receiving one-of-a-kind, thoughtful gifts that most of us can only dream of. Whether it be something of sentimental value or a brand-new invention, you wouldn’t have to fake your reaction to their gifts.
10 Destined For Great Presents: Kairi (Kingdom Hearts)
Kairi grew up alongside Sora and Riku on the Destiny Islands, and the three became best friends. As a character, Kairi is kind-hearted and always looks out for others, especially in regard to Sora. In the first Kingdom Hearts, Kairi gifts Sora a Wayfinder as a lucky charm, making him promise to return it to her when he comes home. This gift is precious to Sora, symbolizing the oath he made to her.
Kairi’s compassionate personality would make her a thoughtful gift-giver, giving you something that has a lot of meaning to you personally. You can’t deny her connection to Sora, though - he’d probably receive a better gift from her than you.
9 Father Christmas: Harry Mason (Silent Hill)
Harry Mason is often cited as one of the best father figures in video games due to the lengths he’s willing to go to protect his daughter from Silent Hill’s cult. After the events of Silent Hill, Harry raises baby Heather, teaching her how to protect herself and keeping her away from the cult’s influence.
Although their situation is unusual, Harry’s the type of father to try to give Heather the best childhood possible, and that includes holidays and birthdays. Harry is a caring person, especially when it comes to his family, and he’d make holiday celebrations as special as they can be despite the circumstances.
8 Jingle All The Way: Jingle (Animal Crossing)
The Animal Crossing world’s answer to Santa Claus, Jingle, visits your town or island during the holiday season, recruiting you to help deliver gifts to your villagers on Toy Day. As the face of Toy Day, Jingle has lots of experience when it comes to giving the best presents, as he’s responsible for ensuring everyone receives a gift on the big day.

In New Horizons, though, he makes you wrap up the gifts yourself because he forgot to do so. Well, it’s what’s inside that counts anyway. You can’t really blame him though - he has a lot on his plate delivering presents to everyone.
7 Not What You Wanted, But What You Needed: Glenn (Chrono Trigger)
A loyal knight, Glenn became withdrawn after the death of his best friend Cyrus and his transformation into a frog due to Magus’ sorcery. Glenn is a proud swordsman with a gentlemanly disposition who gradually warms up to the party.
As a gift-giver, Glenn’s personality means he’d favor more practical, but no less meaningful, gifts. He might give you a book to extend your knowledge or a new scabbard to sheathe your blade. Glenn’s gifts are probably not what you’d buy for yourself, but they’d nevertheless be welcome. Although he would put a lot of thought into it, be coy when giving it to you, and feel embarrassed if you overly thank him.
6 Picture Perfect: Theo (Celeste)
Madeline meets Theo during the climb up Celeste Mountain after he quit his job in Seattle. He takes selfies with Madeline along the trek up the mountain, and the two grow closer, eventually leading to them confiding in each other about what led them to the mountain. In Theo’s case, he learned about the mountain from his late grandpa, who also shared his love for photography.
As a character, Theo tries to remain positive and has a cheerful disposition, shown through how he wants to help Madeline, remarking that she reminds him of his sister. In a friend group, Theo is probably the person to go all out when it comes to giving gifts and would make sure to capture the moment you open the gift by taking a photo. He might make you wait to actually open the gift, though, so he can get the perfect shot for the ‘gram. (If he ever comes back, that is.)
5 All It Costs Is Your Love: Mari (Omori)
In Omori, Mari is Sunny’s older sister and cares lots for her brother, as well as her group of friends, acting as a caring figure toward them. In Headspace, you’ll often come across Mari with her picnic blanket, allowing you to save your game and heal your party members by eating the food in her picnic basket.

Mari is one of the most friendly characters in Omori, making her fate all the more tragic. Nevertheless, she would take the holiday season and birthdays seriously, making sure it’s special for her loved ones. She even has baking skills that she could use to make delicious gifts, just as she makes cookies for the group to share in the treehouse.
4 All Hand-Made Gifts: Tails (Sonic The Hedgehog)
An essential part of the Sonic gang, Tails helps his friends to stop Dr Eggman and his evil schemes by using his talents as a mechanic to create helpful inventions. Tails’ inventions could extend to the festive season, as he would enjoy making creations for each of his friends. He’d make them specific to each person, considering the usefulness of the item as well as their likes and dislikes.
He’d have a bit of trouble keeping the gifts a secret, though, as he gets excited when it comes to his inventions and would probably struggle not to spill the beans about what he’s created.
3 Star Gift-Gifter: Stella (Spiritfarer)
The protagonist of Spiritfarer, Stella, supports spirits on their journey to the Everdoor, helping them to prepare to move on, and leave without any regrets. Aboard Stella’s ship, you attend to the needs of the spirits, making sure they’re comfortable by giving them food and a place to rest.
Stella is a very attentive person, listening to the needs of those aboard her ship and getting to know them better, which is a fantastic quality that lends itself well to being a good gift-giver. Stella is the type of person to put a lot of thought into the gifts she gives, tailoring them to each person rather than getting something generic. You’d be lucky if Stella has you for Secret Santa.
2 Memories Are The Best Gift: Vivi (Final Fantasy 9)
The Black Mage Vivi discovers a lot about his identity in Final Fantasy 9 but still manages to stay true to himself and remains positive regardless. His sweet personality means he’s quick to make friends with the other characters, treasuring the memories they create together.

Vivi is someone who understands the importance of valuing your friends and would surely leap at the opportunity to show how much he cares for them. He’s the type of gift-giver to get you something sentimental, like a journal containing pictures of you together. He might go a little overboard, though, spending all his money on his friends rather than himself.
1 Sew Good: Shiki Misaki (The World Ends With You)
Neku’s partner for week one of the Reapers’ game, Shiki Misaki appears to have an outgoing personality but isn’t who she first appears to be. During Neku and Shiki’s time together, they grow closer, with Neku uncovering Shiki’s true colors - she’s shy, but no less kind than the persona she put on.
Shiki has a strong interest in fashion, making clothes alongside her best friend Eri. Shiki even sewed Mr. Mew, the plush cat that she uses to fight the Noise. Her creativity would allow her to make heartfelt gifts for each of her friends, whether that be sewing them a one-of-a-kind outfit or creating adorable plushies.
