Uncharted 2, a sequel to the first Uncharted movie, has a script. This comes from actor Mark Wahlberg, who can't say much about the movie just yet - other than that his character, Sully, will keep the moustache he was sporting at the end of the first film.

Another Uncharted movie hasn't been officially announced, but according to Wahlberg in an interview with The Direct, there's already a script, and the team is actively "working on it". That might mean we're still nowhere close to filming, but it's a fairly strong indication that the studio was pleased with Uncharted's performance enough to greenlight another film.

"I've heard lots of different ideas," says Wahlberg, sharing what he can of the sequel. "I know somebody's written a script, and they're still working on it, and it would consist of having the mustache the whole entire time. Which completely makes sense; obviously, in that final scene, I have the mustache."

Rather than giving up any details on the project, Wahlberg goes on to explain that his Sully stache would be real, as he can't stand wearing a fake one while filming. It's hardly a great deal of information to go on right now, but at least we know that he's being kept in the loop with how the script is going. It must mean Sony is fairly confident that the sequel will go ahead.

The first Uncharted film premiered in February 2022. While it was met with mixed reviews, it more than made its money back, at one point becoming the fourth highest-grossing video game movie of all time. It was knocked down a spot by The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which took the top spot with ease. Still, Uncharted's success put it ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and all of the Resident Evil and Tomb Raider films, so not bad going for Sony at all.

An Uncharted movie first entered production in 2008. After years of development hell, it failed to materialise until 2019, with a release date of 2020. Then, this was pushed back too, due to the pandemic.

Quality, however, is another point entirely. It has a 40 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and 45/100 on Metacritic. Audience scores were much more positive.

Should the Uncharted sequel go ahead, we can probably expect the lead, Tom Holland, to return as Nathan Drake. His casting wasn't entirely popular at first, but now that we're one movie into a series about a younger Nathan Drake, it makes sense to plough on ahead.
