One of the best parts about the Train Sim World series is arguably the scenery and the attention to detail by the game artists. They thought of everything from telephone wires to cows grazing in the pasture, all of which can be explored from their newly introduced trains. Whether you’re looking to take a slow stroll through the mountains or a speedy race through the city, Train Sim World 3 offers all of this to you.

If that’s not enough (how could it not be?), be sure to check out the Training Center at the start of the game. Not only is it valuable in teaching you about the basics of the different locomotives and how they operate, but it also gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with how the trains can handle the routes you will soon take them on. Train Sim World 3 put their best foot forward in the design and creation of this addition.

6 Training Center

It may not be as grand as strolling through snowy mountain ranges or exploring the hillsides of London, the Training Center is probably one of the most practical “routes” available in Train Sim World 3. If you’re looking to expand your knowledge about the different trains that have been added, it’s the perfect place to understand the controls, functionality, and overall operations behind each locomotive.

In addition to this, you’ll be able to find the train you love the most without the pressure of falling behind on route tasks or mechanical issues. Though basic, the Training Center is truly your one-stop shop for learning the dynamics of each train and getting comfortable with controls.

5 Birmingham Cross-City Line

This scenic route is located within the United Kingdom and is one of the first Train Sim World 3’s routes in the West Midlands. Although it stretches across 37 miles of tree-lined rails, it isn’t the most exciting track to take as you’ll mainly be passing through other stations, highways, and some residential complexes. It can be quite boring if you like to test the speed limits and your skills as it is a fairly slow track and train.

Despite being lackluster in memorable scenery, it does make up for it in the small sense of being a classic to the Train Sim World franchise and does a great job of showing you around the different stations.

4 Cajon Pass

Get ready to explore one of the longest freight train rides within the game. From Barstow, California to San Bernardino, this 85-mile-long stretch shows you the unique scenery of the desserts in California. Though mainly known for its sandy beaches and laid lifestyle, Train Sim World 3 gives a new perspective to this sunny state. On this route it’s entirely possible to encounter weather situations that are intended to challenge you and make the game more immersive.

If you’re looking to get some experience with freight trains while being decisive about inclement weather and exploring the vast openness of California, this route may be what you’re looking for.

3 Spirit Of Steam

While looking out the window of the conductor’s seat, you’ll be greeted with never-ending farmlands, cows grazing in the pastures, and realistic sunsets or sunrises. As far as scenery goes, it shows off the best of both worlds by taking you through a series of tunnels, bridges, and twists and turns, which gives you a chance to practice your braking and power skills more than ever before. This brings a new operating perspective to Train Sim World 3 as most trains that are available are electric or diesel, but, as the name suggests, you’ll be able to operate a train powered purely by steam and steam alone.

In terms of speed, it is relatively tame compared to other routes that allow trains, such as the BR403 or BR401 DB.

2 Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Würzburg

After exploring this route, you may be keen to take a trip to Germany. Unlike Spirit of Steam, these tracks are covered with forest on either side as you speed through the sunny countryside. With tons of bridges to look off of, dark tunnels to zip through, and rolling hills to admire, this route is not only fun to explore but offers a lot to look at from the conductor’s seat.

Germany’s beautiful landscape is highlighted well and looks great no matter the weather conditions you may have to drive through. Don't forget to operate your train through the different scenarios offered to unlock achievements and become the train master you've always wanted to be.

1 Southeastern Highspeed Extended

City views? Pretty forests? Majestic bridges? This route has it all and more, which will leave you wanting to explore this game more and more each time. If you’re looking for a great scenic route while completing tasks, it delivers on all aspects. Speaking of scenery, it looks even better during stormy weather or a nighttime cruise (if possible). Both the Class 375 and the Class 66 are compatible with this route, giving you options as well as speed.

The Southeastern Highspeed route was originally in Train Sim World 2 and was extended for the Train Sim World 3 addition meaning more to see and more to take in than before. You'll be able to unlock the power of some of the fastest trains on this route, which is vastly different in comparison to the Birmingham Cross-City Line or similar.
