TheGamer's podcast is back, new and improved. The new look (new sound?) TheGamer Round Table will be hitting your eardrums weekly, and also strongly, with hot takes on all things gaming. Sometimes we'll be gabbing about a controversial news story, giving you all the details you need, plus a lot of extra ones you don't need but would still quite like. The sprinkles and whipped cream of opinions, that's what we're dishing up. You can also tune in to our reviews, as well as our round table discussions, through the podcast. That last one is how we got the name. TheGamer Sprinkles And Whipped Cream Opinions About Video Games doesn't exactly scream strong SEO.

Our podcasts are hosted by Features Editor and Senior Producer Eric Switzer, who loyal listeners will remember from the original TheGamer Podcast. He'll be joined by a rotating group of editors each time, depending on their experience with the game being discussed, expertise in the genre, or flavour of their sprinkles. Regulars like Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley, Lead News Editor George Foster, and Lead Features Editor Jade King can often be heard on the show, while TheGamer's diverse team of reviewers will pop up from time to time too.

Reviews Vs Round Tables

We cover games in two basic ways on the podcast, and may cover any given game both ways if we feel there are still things to be said. Our review episodes are straight-forward; they involve the reviewer speaking to Eric about the game, explaining the goods, the bads, and occasionally, the uglies. They go through why they gave their score, and a lot of other things that pale into insignificance in the face of the almighty number. These discussions are largely spoiler-free and designed to be listened to before you play a game. We sometimes do previews like this too.

If Eric was the reviewer, then another one of the team will tag in to host. You can't get away from Eric's opinions that easily!

Round tables, on the other hand, take place a couple of weeks after a game launches and feature more spoiler-filled discussions, usually with a wider group of people. These are less interested in a score and more about discussing through the deeper points of the game that reviews don't have time for. These are designed to be listened to after you've beaten a game.

After big gaming showcases like PAX, SGF, EGX, or Gamescom, we host a round table with the attendees too - and of course, each year we tell you who should win at The Game Awards, and reveal the winners of our annual awards, TheGamer Aces, too.

Where Is TheGamer Round Table Podcast Available?

TheGamer Round Table Podcast is available wherever good podcasts go, and presumably where some bad ones go too. It's on Spotify, PodBean, Apple, and PodChaser, while we also upload the video version of the discussion (that's like a podcast with pictures) to YouTube and right here at TheGamer.

As well as our review podcasts being embedded in our official review pages, we post a write-up of each news discussion and round table on the site too, giving you a bite-sized breakdown, complete with the full video, of exactly what we've been yapping about. You can catch them all as they're posted on TheGamer, subscribe to us on whatever platform you get your podcasts on, ring our YouTube bell, or check out our archive below.
