The Guardian Tree holds some secrets about Ravenwood, the new world in The Sims 4: Life & Death. Here you can discover hidden lore secrets, help a grieving ghost, and collect a tarot card or two.

For those who choose to walk a ghostly path, there are also other benefits to interacting with the Guardian Tree. So head over to Mourningvale and see what the mysterious tree can do for your Sims.

Where Is The Guardian Tree?

The Guardian Tree is in the Mourningvale neighbourhood. Select the Eternal Haunt nightclub for the closest lot. Across from the club is Mourningvale's Town Hall.

If you follow the road between the two buildings, you'll see a large stone circle of worn walls in front of you. There is a large stone path which leads through to the centre of the circle. From here, take the first path on the left to go slightly up the hill towards the water and the Guardian Tree is on your left.

If you click on the Town Hall you can select 'Focus camera on' and then 'Alice and the Guardian Tree' and it will pan the camera up to the location.

You can spot the tree due to the turquoise web-like drips which hang down from the branches in place of leaves. Alice is a ghost dressed in a veil who can usually be found close by. She usually appears blue in colour, due to a sad debuff.

How To Complete Alice's Sorrow Quest Chain

Speaking to Alice will unlock Alice's Sorrow, a short quest that will help you unlock the powers of the Guardian Tree.

The quest chain comprises a series of tasks which chain together. If you've found the correct item or person to talk to, you'll see a small black tree icon next to the correct action on the menu.

Once a task is complete, the next one will be displayed in its place under the career menu - accessed via the briefcase icon on the bottom right-hand menu bar.

Advice

Find Deimos

Any Crypt in Ravenwood

Follow the path past the tree and over the bridge. Turn right where it meets the wooden path and follow this to the crypt.

Choose 'Explore the Underground Crypts' followed by 'Enter if you dare' You should quickly come to a pop up for Alice's Sorrow which will let you 'Read the Stone Tablet.' This will tell you of Deimos fate, and then you can exit the crypt by selecting 'Find the next Offspring.'

Find Freddy

Crow's Crossing Playground

From the Eternal Hollow cemetery spawn point, follow the path straight ahead, and you'll see Specters by some swings and a climbing frame on your left.

There are usually three specters. Click each one and check the menu until you find Freddy. You'll be able to 'Chat with Freddy' and 'Ask about Alice's Sorrow.' The second option, once again marked with the tree icon, will move the quest forward.

Find Ann

An Island in the river in Whispering Glen

From the Bar, follow the path to the right, past the inlet, until you reach a dirt path crossing this stone one. Follow the dirt path upwards to the North. At the fork, turn right and go up the hill. The river is just in front of you and the island you need is to the North. You can see the gravestone by a tree.

Your Sim can swim across here, and they'll need to select 'Read Epitath' to discover Ann's fate and advance the quest chain.

Find Edith

The Well of Longing and Regret in Crow's Crossing

From the cemetery, head past the playground Freddy is in and follow the path to the right. Go over the wooden bridge then head right again to follow the dirt path down to the well.

Edith wanders around in this area, from the ruins past the well and down to her headstone, but beware, she doesn't like visitors. Wait until her ghost is green, indicating a good mood, before you approach her. You'll need to attempt communication and for her to accept it before you can choose 'Ask about Alice's Sorrow' and complete the task.

Return To Alice

The Guardian Tree in Mourningvale

Return to the Guardian Tree, locate Alice and choose "Report Findings' to complete the quest chain.

What Does The Guardian Tree Do?

Once you've completed the quest chain, the Guardian Tree will allow you to Listen to Whispers, Refill Needs, View, and Scavenge. Here's what those options do.

View The Guardian Tree

Gain a three hour +2 Inspiration buff called Treespiration, by viewing the Guardian Tree.

Listen To Whispers

You can access a different piece of lore regarding Ravenwood and its history during each lunar phase. The different lunar phases unlock lore as follows:

Alice and her Offspring

Waxing Gibbous

Moppy The Goat

The Guardian Tree

Refill Needs

The Guardian Tree can also refill all your Sim's needs. Just select 'Refill Needs' and your Sim will briefly vanish inside the tree before coming out refreshed.

Ghosts can also refresh their needs at the Guardian Tree.

There does not appear to be a limitation to this after the quest chain has been completed.

Scavenge

Choosing 'scavenge' will allow you to venture into the tree and come out with some goodies. Generally, these will be a selection of fruit or vegetables, but rarer items can also be found.

You must allow some time to pass before you can scavenge again.

Use Intuition

If your Sim has read The Order of Lenore book, which can be found on the Tarot Tome Shrine's in each neighbourhood of Ravenwood, then they will also unlock the ability to use intuition at The Guardian Tree.

Using Intuition will give your Sim the Justice Tarot Card. This is one of a set of 25 tarot cards you can collect by completing tasks for the Order of Lenore.

You will have to strengthen your intuition by completing some of these errands before you can gain a reward from the tree again via intuition.
