Don't Worry About Drastic Overhauls, Official Ocarina Of Time Description Promises "Timeless Gameplay"
An expanded official blurb for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake that can be found in the meta-text of the game's website suggests that the original's gameplay is being kept mostly the same.
The past week has been stuffed to the brim with gaming announcements thanks to various showcases, including a big Nintendo Direct earlier this week. Although Nintendo did have a lengthy show, I think most would agree that it was almost the weakest of the bunch, which thankfully all changed in the final moments.
Not only did we get a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 out of the blue, but the recent massive rumour that Nintendo was working on a Legend of Zelda remake was confirmed with a teaser for Ocarina of Time. We sadly didn't see much beyond a divisive new design for young Link, but a newly-discovered description has given us a better idea of what to expect.
Ocarina Of Time Remake Will Feature "Timeless Gameplay", Suggesting It's Mostly The Same
The Extended Description Is Found In Its Google Blurb
As pointed out by the excellently named Redditor Lousy_Username on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, an unpublished and extended description for the Ocarina of Time remake has been discovered. This blurb can be found by Googling the game's name, which shows the official Nintendo site with a description that it hasn't yet released.
That description notes that players can experience the game with "stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay". Although it's not much more detailed than the description that Nintendo has released, it does give us a bit of a better idea of what the remake is actually going to bring to the table. For reference, the official description simply says, "A legend, reborn".
The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay.
Stunning visuals and updated designs are things we already saw in the reveal trailer, but "timeless gameplay" is a big hint that the remake will play very similarly to the original game. By calling it timeless, Nintendo is suggesting that it's mostly kept Ocarina of Time's gameplay mechanics as they were, instead of overhauling it or making it more similar to Breath of the Wild, even if there are more connections.
Of course, that doesn't mean that Nintendo isn't going to change anything about Ocarina of Time, as it'll likely introduce some quality-of-life improvements, or at the very least bring over what was added to the 3DS remake. We won't know for sure until we see it in action, but the extended blurb is so far the most concrete bit of information that we've got about the game.
