The medium class has quite a good selection for you to choose from. While there are only six weapons for the class overall, it’s a unique and versatile range. If you enjoy close combat, weapons like the shotgun Model 1887 can be a strong companion. For those who enjoy keeping their distance, the assault rifles FCAR and AKM can help you pick off enemies from afar.

6 Riot Shield

Pros

Good use for cover.

Cons

Low damage, no range damage potential, not much cover, slow movement during use.

The riot shield feels like a cool weapon to use until you realise enemies can just shoot your feet when they peek out underneath. The weapon comes with a baton that you can hit enemies with, but the swing is quite slow, and the damage doesn’t make up for it. You’ll have to get uncomfortably close to an enemy to do enough damage, so you’ll need to be the stealthiest player on Earth to make it work.

The cover it provides can be useful, but it certainly isn’t a great substitution for the heavy shields. A light player can quite easily get behind you with their gadgets and specialisations, and a heavy player will have no problem barrelling into you with all their might.

You move much slower with the shield up, so try using it in situations where you don’t need to move quickly, like when a teammate needs more cover to revive someone or steal an objective.

5 R.357

Pros

High damage, fast fire rate.

Cons

High recoil, difficult handling, hard to hit shots.

The R.357 is a small revolver that deals an impressive amount of damage to your enemies. The weapon has six rounds in its magazine, but it can do a deadly amount of damage when landing a hit. You have the potential of killing an enemy with two to three hits, given they aren’t a heavy player, of course.

One setback for this gun is its accuracy and handling. It's not the most beginner-friendly weapon available in The Finals, as you have to be pretty accurate to land a shot. In a game with constantly moving enemies, hitting targets can be difficult. If you’re familiar with similar, fast-paced FPS games, then you can probably get used to the gun quite quickly. For those who are just starting out, there are other guns you’ll want to get your hands on first.

4 CL-40

Pros

Explosions, high damage, good in close combat.

Cons

Low mag size, grenades explode on impact, so it can be difficult to get quick kills.

The CL-40 is a grenade launcher that can be incredibly annoying for other players due to its explosive tendencies. While the grenades don’t damage surfaces like other explosives do, they can still deal some damage to enemies. It’s a great weapon when you want to attack a small room that enemies might have set up in.

The gun has four grenades in the magazine, so you can get some decent damage out before reloading. However, the grenades explode upon impact, which can get annoying if you can’t get the angle right when aiming, as it feels like you’re wasting shots.

3 Model 1887

Pros

Good at close and medium range, high damage.

Cons

Slow fire rate, slow reload speed.

For a shotgun, the Model 1887 has surprisingly good damage from any range. You don’t need to be as close as you’d expect to take part in a fight. It’s an especially great weapon for chasing after enemies who are running away with an objective, or when you just want to finish a team off.

The gun has six rounds in its magazine, and it doesn’t have the fastest reload speed, but the incredibly high damage makes up for it. You can make a hefty dent in the enemy team, so there’s no need to feel panic if you’re the last man standing with this gun in your hands.

2 FCAR

Pros

Good range, high damage, fast fire rate.

Cons

Difficult handling, high recoil.

The one downside to medium weapons is that there aren’t any sniper rifles to choose from, but the FCAR is the closest you’ll get. It’s very similar to the AKM but has a higher range and a slightly slower fire rate. Its scope is what makes it a little more powerful at range, so you can comfortably sit further away during a fight.

The main thing about the FCAR that places it below the AKM is its recoil. The gun can have difficult handling because of its unpredictable recoil, so aiming can feel quite difficult sometimes. While the AKM is easy to get used to since the recoil is consistent, you’ll probably find that you miss the first few shots with the FCAR more often than not. Even so, the difficult handling is worth dealing with for the gun's damage.

1 AKM

Pros

High power, fast fire rate, easier handling than the FCAR.

Cons

Not the best for long-range fights.

The AKM easily has the title as the best medium gun in The Finals. It’s a classic assault rifle, and you don’t need much time to get familiar with it. Its ease of use combined with its power and good accuracy makes it the top choice for both new and old fps players. The gun's mag size is larger than the FCAR, so you can get more shots in before having to reload.

The gun does have a little recoil, but the spray of the gun only travels upwards, so pulling your aim down while firing fixes the issue pretty quickly. Hip-firing the gun has decent accuracy as well, but you’ll want to save that for close quarters rather than when you’re sitting on a rooftop. Overall, the handling of the weapon is easy to get used to, making the gun powerful no matter where you stand in a fight.
