You can never have a simple gunfight in The Finals; there’s always something that spices those battles up a little. Whether it’s a sneaky grenade that gets you into a fight unseen, or a trap placed to take enemies by surprise, there are many ways to turn the tides of a fight.

The Finals' maps may all end up as rubble by the end of a match, but they're all still great.
PostsAs a medium player, you may feel like you're stuck in the middle of two great classes sometimes. Light players naturally have great movement, while the heavy class has enough strength and health to stand alone. So where do medium players sit? Even though there may not be much about the strength or agility of the medium class, there are plenty of gadgets that make the class a powerful one.
8 Gas Mine
Pros
High damage, large cloud of gas, long time period.
Cons
Also damages teammates who stand inside.
The gas mine is a simple mine that can be attached to any surface and will detonate when stood on by an enemy. Once detonated, the mine emits a cloud of toxic gas that makes enemies take damage when inside.
The mine can be used in many ways to give you an advantage. If you’ve captured an objective, you can place the mine near the point, and it will detonate when an enemy gets close. It can also be placed at the side of an entryway to damage attacking enemies and alert you of their presence.
If you can’t see the objective, listen out for the loud alarm that sounds when an enemy is stealing it.
7 Jump Pad
Pros
Get to high places quickly and easily.
Cons
Possibility of being blocked by objects above.
Like the zipline, the jump pad is a helpful piece of equipment for when you need to get to high places and there isn’t another way up. It can be helpful during fights that end in a lot of destruction, and you can no longer tell where the exit is.
If you don’t feel like using the jump pad for jumping, you can make your opponent jump instead. Placing the jump pad in the doorway of a room is a good defence and will confuse any enemy attacking.
6 Gas Grenade
Pros
High damage, explodes into a large cloud immediately.
Cons
You could throw it too far, damages teammates as well.
Similarly to the gas mine, the gas grenade will explode into a cloud of gas when thrown and will damage enemies while they’re inside. The grenade can be useful if you know there are enemies inside a building but can’t get a clear shot to deal damage.

Hit those cash boxes in The Finals' Bank It mode.
PostsThe main advantage of the gas grenade is that it explodes into a large gas cloud, rather than slowly releasing like you may expect. The gas also obscures enemy vision, so it’s a great last resort if you want to make a quick getaway and deal some damage as a parting gift.
5 Sonar Grenade
Pros
Reveals enemies through walls and floors, gives you two grenades to cover a larger area.
Cons
Pulses, so doesn't constantly track enemies, can be avoided easily.
The sonar grenade is a second pair of eyes for those maps with several floors and rooms. Enemies can be hiding in any corner, waiting for the right moment to ambush you. The sonar grenade will seek those hiders out and put them in plain sight.
When thrown, the grenade emits a pulse that reveals any enemy standing in the radius. You get two grenades to throw, so you can cover a good amount of ground before heading in. If you want to capture an objective, using the sonar is a good way to see if the coast is as clear as it seems.
4 Explosive Mine
Pros
An explosive with high damage, detonates when an enemy makes contact.
Cons
You need at least two mines to destroy a wall. If the surface is broken, the mine will fall off, but may get trapped under rubble and be useless.
The explosive mine is a gadget that can be placed on any surface, similar to the gas mine, and will detonate when enemies walk over it. These mines are great for doing some straight-forward explosive damage during a fight.
If you’re in a small room and can’t cover every entrance, the mine is a good substitute that will damage enemies and alert you to their arrival. It can also be placed near objective points to stop enemies from stealing it. For more interesting plays, you can attach the mine to the many random objects in the game and throw it into a fight. No one would expect an exploding chair to fly into the room.
3 Zipline
Pros
Quick way of travelling across gaps and buildings, will attach to any surface, has good distance.
Cons
If the surface is destroyed, the zipline can break.
It’s hard to keep up with the speedy-light players on your team that rush off to an objective with their own gadgets and tools. On the maps with gaps that drop into the abyss, it can be annoying to have to change your path to get across safely.

The Finals is a lot of fun, but so are these alternatives.
PostsThe zipline is quick and easy to use, you just have to point to where you want to go and deploy it. Using a zipline means you can help yourself and your team get from one place to another safely without having to divert your course. If you're a daring player who likes to head straight to the big fights, you can always drop the zipline right in the middle of the battlefield.
The zipline can be attached to any surface, so don't bother trying to be sensible on where to place it, especially when you're in a hurry
2 Glitch Trap
Pros
Distorts enemy gadgets and specialisations.
Cons
Needs to be stepped on to activate, so bad placement renders it useless.
The glitch trap is another mine that can be placed and will detonate when stood on by an enemy. The glitch trap will disable any specialisations and gadgets being used in its vicinity. If you’re playing against light players who like to go invisible, the glitch trap is a good defence that can reveal them before they get too close.
You can place the trap by the objective or by any entryway to take enemies by surprise, so you can get the first shot in. It can also be a good first attack if you throw it into a room where you know enemy teams have set up their own defences.
1 Defibrillator
Pros
Quickly revive teammates during fights, quick charge time before using.
Cons
Have to stop fighting to use, which leaves you vulnerable.
You'll always want to help out your friends as soon as possible in The Finals. A single revive can change the result of the match, which makes the defibrillator one of the best medium gadgets in the game. As the medium class acts more as a support role to other players, the defibrillator is a great addition to anyone’s loadout.
The defibrillator allows you to bypass the awkward waiting time of reviving a teammate by immediately bringing them back with a quick zap of the gadget. If you’re in the middle of a fight and need that extra person, the defibrillator can help even out the fight. Towards the end of the game when players are starting to panic, this gadget can really help you get back in the fight quickly for a last stand.
