Summary

  • It's been rumoured for a while that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is going to get shadowdropped today.
  • That hasn't happened just yet, but leakers and insiders are still sharing information about it.
  • One such piece of info is the remake's file size, which is apparently going to be massive.

A reliable leaker and dataminer has claimed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is going to take up around 120 GB of space, which gives us a good idea of how much more detailed it's going to be.

After having years of nothing to look forward to outside of The Elder Scrolls Online's updates and the distant hope that the sixth mainline game might release this decade, today is shaping up to be a big day for The Elder Scrolls fans. For the past few months, a remaster/ remake of Oblivion has been one of the gaming industry's worst-kept secrets.

It was already seeming concrete enough with so many insiders reporting it, but then the project flat-out leaked through Virtuos' website, confirming all of the rumours. Well, except for the biggest rumour of all, which suggested that we're actually going to see Oblivion Remastered today when it gets shadowdropped.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Remastered Could Be A Whopping 120 GB

Dear God It's Going To Be Huge

That rumour has sadly not been proven true yet, and we're all sitting around twiddling our thumbs for some kind of update. While we wait for Bethesda and Virtuos to pull back the curtain on the remaster, a reliable leaker has potentially given us a bit more information about Oblivion Remastered to go off of.

As pointed out by Redditor Reynor247 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the latest leak comes from Twitter user and Marvel Rivals dataminer X0X_LEAK, who has been spot-on with their claims regarding that game. Out of nowhere, the Twitter account randomly shared an image of the remaster and claimed that it's going to be a whopping 120 GB.

That probably doesn't come as a surprise considering how massive Oblivion is and how detailed the remake looks to be from what we've seen so far, but it's still a huge file size that's going to take some hard drive clearing to accommodate. X0X_LEAK shared an image from what appears to be a Steam listing (perhaps linked to the Boosteroid leak from yesterday) showing that it'll be 120 GB overall.

As with all leaks and rumours regarding The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, it's worth taking it all with a pinch of salt until Bethesda officially announces the project. It does seem to be legitimate from the images shared by X0X_LEAK, though, and with so much of the game leaking already, it's not too hard to believe that the file size is out there already.
