The Witcher 3's Velen is a vast and hostile environment that is host to dozens of hidden secrets. If you search the region's east, you may find a long-abandoned castle that has been reclaimed by nature. Given that it is guarded by an ancient leshen, you can be assured that the rewards within the castle are worth taking.

Ancient leshens aren't easy to defeat, nor is this quest easy to find. If you need help with slaying the monster and its attendant pack of wolves or with locating the quest and its chest, this guide will show you the way.
Where To Start Treasure Hunt: The Secret Life Of Count Romilly
This treasure hunt is found inside Arnskrone Castle Ruins, in Velen's east. It's deep inside an ominous forest, making it difficult to reach.
You may be visiting the ruins for another treasure hunt, Dark Legacy, which you can only unlock in the quest Open Sesame.
You will know when you've reached the ruins when you are beset by a pack of wolves and an ancient leshen. You will have to kill all hostile creatures before you can explore the area.
The ancient leshen will give you a much tougher fight than its kindling-like appearance would imply. The monster can transform into a flock of crows and piece Geralt with fast-growing roots.
As you might imagine, it can be held at bay by being set alight, which will stun it for a prolonged period of time. Make sure to remain defensive while fighting it as its attacks deal heavy damage.
After slaying the monster, look for a corpse leaning against a tree stump. You can find the letter and key needed for the quest here.
Finding The Chest
Once you've started the quest, walk into the castle and take the spiral staircase down. The chest you are looking for is opposite the stairs, behind a desk. Unlocking it will end the quest.
Turning left at the stairs will bring you to a room full of wraiths. These enemies are related to Dark Legacy, and can be ignored if you are not attempting the quest.
