Witchers have incredible senses, far beyond that of a normal human. They can see almost perfectly well at night, tell if someone is lying by the sound of their heartbeat, and identify monsters by scent. These mutations make them incredible trackers that are preternaturally skilled at hunting monsters and finding important objects, something that you witness plenty in The Witcher 3.

Geralt will be devoting his finely tuned senses to assisting an old lady who had her pan stolen by a mysterious man and needs to get it back. She needs a big, strong witcher to break down that door and get it.

Starting A Frying Pan, Spick And Span

This quest starts when you find an old woman peering into her house from the outside. She is to the northwest of White Orchard, by the bank of the river. You will need to detour from the main road to speak to her.

You will not be able to complete this quest if you finish the prologue, Lilac and Gooseberries.

The old woman tells Geralt that a man had stolen her only frying pan and locked himself inside the hut. Another man had followed him in and never left. She would get her pan herself, but she cannot open the door and asks you to help her do it.

Investigating The Hut

The flimsy wooden door is no match for the Butcher of Blaviken. CastingAard on the door will blow it to smithereens and allow Geralt to enter the hut where he finds a crime scene.

You can quickly end the quest by walking to the pan, found at the back of the hut on the stove. Simply pick it up and return it to its eagerly waiting owner to complete the contract. If you want to discover what has happened, you can conduct a short investigation.

The hut has several chests with valuable loot. Considering how early you are in the game, these chests should not be missed.

There are four clues in the house, all highlighted with your Witcher Senses.

The Frying Pan

This clue is on the stove, indicated by the floating blue motes.

A Corpse

The body is slumped by the window and covered in blood.

A Monocle

Geralt can find it not far from the body.

Half-burned papers

These papers are by the stove, laying on the ground.

Geralt will comment on his findings, drawing the ire of the old woman while piecing together what happened.

Seeing How It Pans Out

The old woman will be relieved to have her frying pan back and gives Geralt a small supply of food and drink as a reward. You will also be awarded XP.

While the reward is meager, it does provide you with some health regeneration without having to use valuable potions that are hard or even impossible to come by early in the game. Money would have been nice, but at least you made an old lady happy, no?
