All good stories must come to an end. The first part of Ciri's adventure in The Witcher 3 is concluded by the Bloody Baron telling the story of why she left Velen to Geralt. This finale is the final morsel that the Baron had held back as a way of compelling the witcher to find his missing family.

In this brief flashback, you are once again thrown into Ciri's shoes as she has to fight her way out of another life-or-death situation, trading witcher potions, and oils for supernatural teleportation. It can be a jarring change, especially if you are playing on higher difficulties.
How To Start Ciri's Story: Out Of The Shadows
This is the final flashback in Velen that you can play. This tale is coaxed out of the Baron at the end of Family Matters, a long quest that revolved around the Bloody Baron's missing family and forces you to Crookback Bog in Ladies of the Wood. In reaching the end of Family Matters, you would have completed all the other flashbacks.
Out of the Shadows picks up where the Baron left off at the end of Ciri's Story: The Race, right as Ciri and the Baron are attacked by a Basilisk.
How To Defeat The Basilisk
The absence of Geralt's arsenal is particularly noticeable in this quest. The sole objective is to defeat a basilisk. Ordinarily, it would be a challenge for the veteran witcher. While Ciri is no slouch in combat, she hasn't got anywitcher signs or a crossbow.
The basilisk is a flying monster that uses its wings and tail to deliver poisonous strikes at deceptively far distances. Without Quen to provide a safety barrier, you will need to rely on Ciri's superior dodge.
You will have to dodge around the basilisk, keeping an eye out for its wings and tail to know when to escape. Ciri's innate health regeneration cannot keep up with its poison, making each hit against you dangerous.
Aim to keep your distance throughout the fight and dash in for a few hits when the opportunity arises. It will shield itself with its wings, signaling when you should dash away.
The fight will come to an end after you deplete its health bar, starting a cutscene. Once it ends, look for a ledge in the middle of the arena to begin climbing up the tower. A second cutscene will play, bringing the quest to an end.
