Your Perception ability doesn't cost anything, letting you spam it. You can use the skill every few seconds, move to another spot, and keep searching until you discover something.
If you see red petals, that means you're near a point of interest.
As you use your Perception skill, explore every inch of the area. You'll eventually encounter multiple clues which can point you in the right direction regarding your current objective.
Spread Your Skill Points Evenly
Once you level up, you can spend a point to unlock more combat abilities. While you may want to focus on the most powerful skills, you should know that Thaumaturge Points impact your investigation abilities.
Items will sometimes have symbols next to them, corresponding to the four Dimension Forces: Heart, Mind, Deed, and Word. If you aren't at a high enough level in any of those categories, it will appear as a mystery mark while saying how many more points you need to view the information. This should inform you as to where you should invest your points.
How To Spread Your Skills
This makes it crucial to balance the skills you want to gain without getting too far behind regarding your Dimension Forces. If you want to balance them, try this early level-up path.

Gamble
You get a 60% chance of doubling the attack's damage.

Relaxation

This is great for boss fights that quickly drain your Focus.
Thief of Thought

This becomes more useful once you unlock your damage over time move.
Perfect Efficiency

Another great upgrade for maximizing your most powerful attacks.
Brutality

It's a great setup move for a damage-focused Salutor.

Pay Attention To Traces
As you analyze the different clues, you'll sometimes see a Trace, which comes in three forms.
- Unknown means you've found a new Trace.
- Familiar means you've come across the Trace before.
- Certain means you know the exact Trace it connects to.
As you find Traces, you'll see how close you are to learning something new. If you find something Unknown, keep looking in the area.
Once you encounter a Certain Trace, you'll know what you must track down.
Swap Your Quest Focus
Many times, your quests will split into multiple sections. One of them will be highlighted, and if you press the corresponding button on the screen, you can swap your focus.
Since you'll need to travel between areas, ensure you swap your quest focus before you go somewhere else. Doing so will help you avoid backtracking.
This can also help you if you feel stumped. At times, you may not have access to certain areas, so you'll need to tackle different parts of the quest before you can continue through the quest.
Some quests will have a bullet-point list of tasks. Always focus on these subparts, since they'll give you clues to finish the more important points.
Save Before You Talk With People
The Thaumaturge allows you to save during most moments, with your interactions leading to different results.
For instance, early in the game, you can give away a woman who was storing bullets or have police officers take away a leader, which can impact the game and how characters perceive you. The same applies to whether you push your prideful answers or try to hide information from people.
If you want to see how different situations play out, you should save right before you talk with people to see what you can get from multiple answers. You can then stick with the choice you like the most.
You can't pause and save once you start a conversation.
Swap Your Salutors In Combat
Once you complete the prologue and gain your second Salutor, you can switch between them in combat. Switching them doesn't change turn order or commit you to a specific Salutor, so see what they can do and pick the best one for the situation.
For instance, Upyr is great for dealing damage to enemies at full health while providing support through Focus reduction and healing. On the other hand, Bukavac is great for dealing damage to multiple enemies, thanks to its use of the Suffering ailment.
You can use Salutors to weaken more powerful enemies. Learn each Salutor's corresponding Dimension Force, so you'll know which one will get rid of powerful buffs your opponents may have.
Adjust Your Combat Skills Before Each Fight
Speaking of combat, you have combat passives and skills you can change based on the upcoming fight. For example, if you're fighting two weaker enemies and another who has tons of health, adding Brutality to a move can help you take out the strongest enemy to minimize damage.
You can hover enemies before a fight starts and press the corresponding button prompt to adjust your skills. In essence, passives can only be equipped to one ability at a time, meaning you'll unlikely use the same setup during each fight.
Although passives can be changed at any time, the same doesn't apply to Thaumaturge points you spend on Dimension Forces.
Balance Breaking Focus And Dealing Damage
During combat, you have two main stats that will impact gameplay: Focus and Health. While Health is obvious, when an opponent's Focus runs out, you can perform a powerful attack on them.
You must find the balance between breaking Focus and dealing damage by comparing the two.
If the enemy only has a few points of Focus, performing a Focus break could be the better option since you'll deal more damage in the long run. On the other hand, if they have multiple Focus points, it might be better to use your Strong Attacks without worrying about Focus.
If you have trouble finding this balance, do some quick math to see if it will take more turns to defeat them or break their Focus. As a general rule, Focus breaking is better for weaker enemies while Health damage is better for bosses.
