Space Marine 2 Fans Are Upset Over Weak Bolt Weapons

Summary
- Space Marine 2 fans have found themselves disappointed with the bolt weaponry on offer, calling it "too underpowered."
- On the Space Marine 2 subreddit, players have been expressing their disappointment with weapons like the Bolt Rifle, and how it's outclassed by plasma and melta weapons.
- This has led to some to call for bolt weapons buffs, fearful that Saber may nerf plasma and melta weapons and cause "a HD2 situation."
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has a bunch of weapons for you to use against the Tyranids and the forces of Chaos, and also against other Space Marines if you're up for a bit of multiplayer. Like with any third-person shooter, some weapons are simply better and more useful than others, though a lot of fans are pretty disappointed with the bolt weaponry that Space Marine 2 is offering.
In a new post on the Space Marine 2 subreddit, a user called Sinewave11 calls the game's Bolt Rifles "too underpowered." They go on to explain that while they know the game is supposed to be difficult, plasma and melta weapons are more than cpabale of dealing with high level enemies, calling bolt weaponry "anemic" in comparison.
They then go on to call the Bolt Rifles specifically "plain useless," and think that even the heavy Bolt Pistol is better than the rifles. While Sinewave11 clearly expected some to poke fun at their take, stressing that the problem wasn't a "skill issue", their post has actually garnered quite a bit of support from other players, also upset that the game's bolt weaponry is so tame in comparison to plasma and melta weapons.
Space Marine 2 Fans Are Upset Over Weak Bolt Weapons
For example, another user called PathsOfRadiance claims that "the only decent ones are the pistols and the bolt sniper," though even that is outclassed by the vastly superior Las Fusil. Another user explains that they managed to beat every Operation on Ruthless difficulty, yet none of their squad used a bolt weapon as a primary.
This same user also calls for developer Saber Interactive to buff bolt weapons and not to nerf plasma or meltas down to the same level, otherwise they risk "a HD2 situation." Helldivers 2 is currently having to build its audience back up after various nerfs and strange decisions disappointed players enough for them to call it quits. Clearly, Space Marine 2 has a similar issue when it comes to underpowered weapons, so we'll have to wait and see how Saber responds.
It's still early days though, as Space Marine 2 has only been out for a week. Despite that, it's managed to climb into the list of Steam's ten biggest launches this year, swiftly becoming the most-played Warhammer game on the platform. Hopefully, Saber will give players their bolt weapon buffs, and the success can continue long into the year.
