Summary

  • Sony has sent out a survey to players about Fairgame$, including feedback on last year's reveal trailer.
  • Fans are left wondering about the fate of Fairgame$, especially with rumours of an upcoming PlayStation Showcase.
  • The survey calls the game Fairgames and not Fairgame$, leading to a potential title switch.

It's been a minute since we've heard anything about Sony and Haven Studios' live-service PvPvE heist shooter Fairgame$. However, a new survey being sent out to PlayStation players might mean we're due for some updated news soon.

On Reddit, user trevx shared on the PS5 subreddit that they had received a survey from Sony via email.

The email, which was posted on Imgur, asks survey doers to share their thoughts with the Fairgame$ development team. It's titled "Help shape the future of Fairgames."

There is no mistaking this as official PlayStation letterhead, though it remains to be seen how Sony will utilize the feedback.

What Does The Survey Ask?

According to the Reddit user, the survey asked basic things, like the type of gameplay they enjoy, where they play games, and how often. It also asked if they were interested in PvP or PvE games, and heist games in general.

What's particularly interesting is that the survey also asked for feedback about last year's Fairgame$ trailer. The title was revealed nearly one year ago with a CGI trailer.

Since then, it's been pretty radio silent. Outside a post on the PlayStation Blog, details are pretty limited. From that post, we do know that the game is centered around an "underground movement to rob the ultra-rich and rebalance the scales." The game will also feature "emergent sandbox gameplay" that "rewards creativity and mastery."

Fairgames or Fairgame$

When the title led the PlayStation Showcase, it was somewhat confusing. Instead of an "S" at the end of the game title, it was a dollar sign, $. It was the kind of edgy title that had fans rolling their eyes.

The survey email makes numerous references to "Fairgames," and, at least to our knowledge, never once call it but its actual name, Fairgame$. Sony could have dropped the $ after some backlash, or perhaps the Fairgame$ title is only for promotional purposes. Either way, it's a tad bit confusing.

With a PlayStation Showcase rumoured for this month, perhaps the game will get a re-reveal then, complete with gameplay and story elements. And if it doesn't show, well, it might be time to start fearing the worst for Sony's next live-service venture.
