- A lot of fans seem to think that this is teasing a potential reunion between Shadow and Maria, though there are also theories that they might be hallucinations.
Sonic x Shadow Generations is launching in less than a month, meaning Sega is really starting to ramp up the marketing. In another bid to try and convince people to play the game this October, and excite those of you who already have your pre-orders locked in, the publisher released a new trailer for the game during this month's Sonic Central presentation.
It was a great display of the slick gameplay we've already seen in previous trailers, but there was one moment right at the end which had Sonic fans in a tizzy. In the trailer, we see a clock going haywire, as its hands quickly spin around, followed by a blinding light and Shadow himself stood in a blank space with some vague structures surrounding him. He then looks into the distance and seemingly spots Maria.
We know by now how important Maria is to Sonic fans, as they insist that she be shot in almost every piece of media she's involved in, going so far as to cheer in crowded theater halls during live performances. With this little teaser, a lot of fans seem to think that Sonic x Shadow Generations is teasing a reunion between Shadow, Maria, and Gerald Robotnik.
Sonic Fans Want Shadow And Maria To Reunite In Sonic X Shadow Generations
It's a pretty solid theory, especially since we know Sonic x Shadow Generations is a story about time travel. It could be an excellent way for Shadow to actually say goodbye to Maria, given their parting was incredibly tragic, and it would be interesting to see Shadow fight to restore the past, knowing full well that he'll have to part with Maria again, this time willingly.
While it seems as though the majority of fans are excited about the prospect, there are some that are a bit more wary. Some are worried about what kind of impact the events of this game will have on the canon in games like Shadow the Hedgehog, while others simply think this is a tease, and they're just some kind of hallucination that Shadow is having. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what goes down when we get our hands on the game on October 25.
