As soon as you land on a sky island in Solarpunk, there won't be a story or a guide to tell you what you should do. Apart from a small tutorial, the game mostly lets you figure things out for yourself, which can be a little daunting at first. Much like any Survival Crafting game, this one also requires a ton of different ore types.

While some of these ores are easy to find, others can be particularly difficult if you don't know where to look. Iron and Copper are the two early-game resources that you need to craft a ton of items in this game, and here's how you can easily farm them.

Where To Find Iron Ore

When you first launch Solarpunk, you'll spawn on a sky island with no way to get to any of the other islands that you can see around you. Thankfully, Iron ore can be found on this island itself. While we have provided a map location for it above, you might not have the map unlocked just yet.

To find this Iron Ore, you can head down from the path on the left from where you spawn until you see a pool of water. Take the path on the left of this pool and you'll see some small nodes with iron deposits inside them. You can mine these with a pickaxe to get some Iron.

Once you get the build hammer, you can create stairs to get to higher points on this island and get some more Iron ore.

Once you've mined these rocks, however, they won't respawn. To get Iron ore after that, you'll have to use your pickaxe on the Iron vein in the ground in between these ores. This vein doesn't get depleted, has a chance to give you Iron ore with each hit, but also drains your pickaxe much faster.

Where To Find Copper Ore

If you want to get Copper for your next research table tier upgrade, you'll first have to make yourself an Airship, which can be done at the Airship Station once you've found the part on the higher platforms of the island. With the Airship, head to the island to the northeast of your starter island.

This is a fairly small island, and you can easily locate Copper ore in it. After getting the regular Copper nodes, you'll have to farm the vein in between to get more just like Iron ore.

How To Make Iron And Copper

Now that you know how to find Iron and Copper ore, you can make Iron and Copper from them, respectively, using a Furnace. This item can be unlocked with some stone once you've reached the second tier of the research table.

Put Iron or Copper ore in the top section of the Furnace with any wood-related item at the bottom to slowly convert it to the respective metal, which can then be used to craft various recipes. Since one Furnace can only smelt up to 16 of one type of ore at a time, it's recommended to make many of them.
