The Middle role in Smite 2 is simple to understand and very important to get right in order to have a successful match. It's among the least complicated roles there is: the goal of the Middle role, at its most basic, is to keep the enemy Middle God backed up towards their Tower.

This is going to allow your team to rotate through the Middle, without as much worry as they would have otherwise. That's not all a Middle can do; they can rotate into other lanes themselves, when the opportunity is there, and a good push through the middle can make the difference in a match.

7 Ra

The Sun God

Close

Ra is one of the easiest Gods to pick up, and is well-suited for multiple different roles, like Solo, Support, and, of course, Middle. He's a ranged God, keeping you out of immediate danger in a lot of instances, with abilities that are easy to understand and synergize well.

Ra is capable of healing himself, dealing damage to large groups of enemies at the same time, and can easily increase his own movement speed. The Middle role can be hazardous, particularly when it comes to flanks coming from the Jungle, and being able to escape quickly is going to do you a lot of good.

6 Neith

The Weaver Of Fate

Close

Neith is the God that is used in the tutorial, and for good reason: she's easy to understand, and is still fairly strong. She's another ranged character - not all Middle Gods are ranged, but it's certainly well-suited to the role - and has a combination of abilities that make her well-suited to managing things on her own.

For instance, Neith has multiple abilities that can either root or stun enemies. This is particularly useful in the middle lane, because it can create situations where enemies cannot avoid an ambush coming at them from the Jungle. Neith can also heal herself fairly regularly, with her Unravel ability.

5 Medusa

The Gorgon

Close

Medusa is one of the most agile characters by default, able to move and face any direction with little in the way of movement penalties. She's also capable of increasing her own attack speed, with an ability that also happens to poison a target. This can keep an enemy from realizing they're taking more damage than usual for a split second, and give her an advantage.

Medusa is another God that's capable of debilitating targets when it comes to movement, as well. Her movement ability, Lacerate, dashes her forward and roots the first enemy God she comes into contact with, and her ultimate ability, Petrify, allows her to stun and slow whole groups of enemies.

4 Baron Samedi

The God Of Life And Death

Close

Baron Samedi can be a powerful God, and becomes more powerful the longer he fights the same enemy. Dealing damage to enemies applies Hysteria to them, and that Hysteria gives your own abilities extra effects. Gods who have been dealt maximum Hysteria deal less damage to Baron than they otherwise would, which offers a great defense boost.

Considering Baron is in the middle lane and likely fighting one God for a good portion of the match, that God is going to be dealing with Hysteria fairly often. On top of that, Baron has many abilities that can stun enemies in various ways, particularly when the Hysteria interaction comes into play.

3 Zeus

The God Of The Sky

Close

Zeus is capable of unleashing an incredible amount of damage, and is best suited to either the Middle or the Jungler role. His attacks Charge enemies, and the more Charge enemies have at a time, the more damage Zeus deals to them. Much like Baron Samedi, this is particularly useful when fighting one God for much of a match.

Zeus also has abilities that allow him to fight with ease in both close and long range. His Basic Attack is ranged, but his Thunderclap ability allows him to damage enemies in a radius around him, and also increases his movement and attack speed considerably.

2 Hecate

The Goddess Of Sorcery

Close

Hecate is a very zone-oriented Goddess, with a particular strength in defending her own team's structures. Her passive ability, Mythic Ritual, allows her to create a zone around an allied structure that recharges her health and her mana, while also buffing her Strength and Intelligence.

This makes it very difficult to push past a Tower against Hecate, considering you're likely always going to be fighting against a constantly regenerating, buffed version of her. She can also create a zone that's more offensive in nature, keeping her from only having value in a defensive situation.

1 Hades

The King Of The Underworld

Close

Another character who's strong when fighting consistently against one enemy, Hades applies Blight to his targets. That Blight reduces their Strength and Intelligence, and Hades abilities have extra effects when targeting enemies that are afflicted with Blight.

One of Hades strongest abilities is Devour Souls; this deals damage to nearby enemies, and detonates Blighted ones. That detonation damages other nearby enemies, and heals Hades. Ensuring multiple enemies are Blighted before using this attack ensures quite a bit of detonation, which is going to deal quite a bit of damage, and provide Hades with a meaningful amount of healing.
