International Women's Day is coming up on March 8, 2024, and to mark the occasion, Steam is running a Women's Day sale. Teaming up with Wings - a fund that finances indie games developed by women, marginalized genders, and other diverse groups - the sale has already begun, includes more than 400 games, and will run through March 10.

The goal of the ten-day event is to shine a spotlight on indie games that have been developed by women in a variety of ways. Some games will be spotlighted, demos and previews of upcoming games are also included, and many titles are on sale. Inkulinati, for example, will be available for 40 percent less during the Women's Day sale.

Other games created by women that are available for less on Steam right now include Sprawl, The Wandering Village, and Before We Leave which is a very tempting 75 percent off. Wings' Women's Day sale isn't all about the sale, though. Female-developed games that aren't on sale but will hopefully bring in new players over the next ten days include Card Shark, Calico, and the fantastic Slay The Princess.

Quite literally combining turn-based strategy with the history books, Inkulinati tasks you with finding out what works best when faced with various medieval threats. It's really not always the weapon you're expecting that will get the job done in this 2D adventure.

If you're not sure what to pick up, or you like the look of something coming soon which also has a dedicated section on the Women's Day Sale's Steam page, there are a lot of demos waiting for you to download and try. Tinykin, Arcadia Fallen, and Illuminaria are just a few of the spotlighted games you can try before you buy. On top of showcasing hundreds of games and cutting the prices of some of them, there will also be live streams celebrating women in games screening throughout the ten-day event.

You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess.

You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world.

She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.

You're not going to listen to him, are you? We're supposed to save princesses, not slay them...

Fully voice-acted by the impeccable Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight. Hand-penciled art - every background and sprite is drawn traditionally with pencil and paper by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.

No, the Princess isn't a “cosmic horror,” whatever that is supposed to mean. She's just an ordinary human Princess, and you can definitely slay her as long as you put your mind to it.

Don't even think about trying to romance her. It won't end well for you.
Hopefully you won't die. But if you do, you'll die a lot. Be careful and stay focused on the task at hand!
