Silent Hill: Townfall, Which Is Likely PS5 Console Exclusive, Gets An Age Rating Ahead Of The State Of Play
Silent Hill: Townfall has received an age rating from the ESRB, in preparation for release. That is despite the game not currently having a firm release date, instead having a vague 2026 release window.
Given the timing of the age rating being shared, it is likely that Silent Hill: Townfall will feature at tonight's State of Play. If so, that increases the odds that Townfall will be a PlayStation console exclusive, as previously predicted.
Silent Hill: Townfall Has Been Rated For Release On PC And PlayStation - Not Xbox
The age rating itself doesn't give too much away. It has been rated M by the ESRB, so it is suitable for those 17 and up. We're told that Townfall contains "Blood, Strong Language, and Violence", as well as the use of the F word, so pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a Silent Hill game.
What is interesting is that, once again, we see no mention of Xbox anywhere. This has also been the case with the promotional material for Townfall, furthering the theory that it is skipping Xbox Series X/S altogether. At the very least, we can see it has been rated for PC, so it's not a true PS5 exclusive.

Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 Remake were both available on the platform, so this kind of console exclusivity is new. In the past, some devs have expressed frustration working with Xbox Series S - a requirement for launching on Xbox Series X - but that is just speculation, with no indication that Townfall developer Screen Burn shares these frustrations. It is just as likely that there is some kind of exclusivity deal at play.

If so, that probably means we'll get a release date, if it is indeed sticking to its 2026 release window. There is a chance it will be pushed back like so many other games. Most recently, Fable was delayed until February 2027. Incidentally, that had also recently received age ratings, giving us hope that it would stick to its initial 2026 date.
