Dark Chao Among Six New Sonic Squishmallows Coming Soon

Summary
- Six new Sonic Squishmallows have been revealed and are expected to be released before the end of 2024.
- Four of them are shiny versions of pre-existing Sonic Squishmallows.
- Joining them is a Santa Sonic Squishmallows, and a GameStop exclusive Dark Chao.
Sonic fans have been spoiled this year when it comes to merch dedicated to the Blue Blur and his supporting cast. From Funko Pops to Lego sets, there's been a lot to keep track of, and there's still more to come. Even though Sonic and co. already have some Squishmallows, they're about to get a lot more. Shiny versions of the pre-existing squishy Sonic plushes and two new additions to the Sega Squishmallow family.
Despite rumors that Amy, Robotnik, and others might be getting their own Squishmallows earlier this year (come on Jazwares, Robotnik is egg-shaped, it would be so easy) the only characters to have been given the Squishmallow treatment so far are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. As revealed by Sonic Merch News, all four of those designs will be getting shiny versions very soon. All four designs are exactly the same as the originals, just shinier.

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have been given 8-bit makeovers for their newest Funko Pops.
Posts 1Despite the rumors mentioned above, Sega and Jazwares have gone in a different direction for their two new Sonic Squishmallow additions. The first is Santa Sonic, taking a similar approach to Pokemon's Squishmallows which get a new holiday-themed Pikachu design each year. The Santa Sonic Squishmallow is similar to Sonic's original Squishmallow designs, except the speedy hedgehog has had a matching Santa hat and jacket stitched onto him. Considering how fast he can run, Sonic would make a pretty great Santa.

Not To Mention Sonic's Next Game And New Movie
The second new addition is potentially the most exciting, particularly for hardened Sonic fans - a Dark Chao Squishmallow. The bad news is the Dark Chao Squishmallow is a GameStop exclusive. The good news is of all the new Sonic Squishmallows mentioned above, it's the only one that is already available. Although it hasn't been listed on the GameStop website, Sonic fans have been sharing evidence of it appearing in GameStop stores.
While Santa Sonic makes sense considering the time of year, particularly with a new Sonic game coming this month and then a new Sonic movie hitting theaters over the holidays, picking Dark Chao over characters like Amy and Rouge to be the next Squishmallow is an interesting choice. Then again, with a focus on Shadow due to his role in Sonic x Shadow Generations and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, a Dark Chao to pair with a shiny new Shadow Squishmallow makes a lot of sense.
