A reliable Nintendo insider has teased that September's rumoured Nintendo Direct will feature reveals for F-Zero and Donkey Kong, which likely means new games.

We're more than a week into September, so you know what that means - it's time for some Nintendo Direct rumours! Nintendo almost always holds a dedicated Direct presentation in September and, while it hasn't officially confirmed one is coming just yet, it seems very likely that it's going to do so in the coming days. That, of course, means a lot of teases and rumours about what we could be seeing in the Direct.

While there are a lot of rumours floating around right now that make it hard to trust anything you see, there are some hints that are worth trusting and getting excited about. Two such teases have recently popped up from reliable Nintendo insider Pyoro_X, who teased that the Direct is going to feature announcements that should make fans of two dormant Nintendo series very happy.

Over on Twitter, Pyoro_X started off with a tease that I definitely didn't have to Google to understand, saying, "Let's just say fans of a certain MATLAB function will be happy with the upcoming Direct". That, of course, is in reference to the MATLAB function fzero, which is basically one big tease that something to do with the series is going to be announced at the Direct.

When asked if the announcement was going to be to do with F-Zero: Maximum Velocity coming to Nintendo Switch Online, Pyoro_X simply said "no", implying that it's going to be something brand new for the series. Considering how long it's been since the last F-Zero game and how much a new one has been teased over the years, September's Direct is already shaping up to be a big one.

That's not all, however. The next tease from Pyoro_X is thankfully a lot easier to understand and doesn't make me think that degree in journalism was pointless, as they simply posted a gif of Donkey Kong rolling in the Super Mario Bros. movie. Rumours of a new Donkey Kong have been floating around for years now, so it seems that Pyoro_X is teasing that this month might finally be when we hear about what's next for everyone's favourite ape.

While Donkey Kong isn't quite as dormant as F-Zero is, it's still been quite a long time since his last game, which was 2014's excellent platformer, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. We have no clue if it's going to be another 2D side-scroller or something new, but it's an exciting prospect either way.
