Posts 2G Generation Eternal's strategic battles start off decently easy, but by the endgame, you'll need to plan each move carefully. For this reason, it's important to get the basics down early and give yourself the best start possible. Below, we'll take a look at some tips to keep in mind as you play through the game.
Reroll For The Best Start
SD Gundam G Generation Eternal is a gacha game, which means that to collect the best units (UR-rarity), you'll need to roll on banners using premium currency. While the game is decently generous with its premium currency, if you want the best possible start, you'll want to reroll your account.
The process is very simple, as after the first playthrough of the story, you can head back to the title screen and delete your account. The next time you go to start the game, you'll have the option to skip the tutorial, bringing you straight to the part where you can pull.
There's also a Guaranteed UR Banner that lets you roll as many times as you want, and guarantees a UR-rarity Unit on the tenth pull. This means you'll always be able to get at least one of the Mobile Suits you want on a fresh account.
Focus On The Main Story
SD Gundam G Generation Eternal's story is divided into anime series, which present stages and cutscenes based on the original series. This means playing through the original Mobile Suit Gundam storyline will have you witnessing Amuro's first time piloting the Gundam, his first encounter with the Red Comet, and so on.
The story is also the primary way you unlock new content in the game, so it's definitely worth focusing on above all else. Completing certain chapters will unlock new features like Upgrade Stages, which finishing a series will unlock another one.
Upgrading your Player Rank also unlocks new features, but this will rise over time as you spend AP.

Develop New Mobile Suits
The Development Diagram system allows you to craft Mobile Suits using Capital, materials, and other Units. While most crafted Units can only go up to SSR-rarity, these Units are incredibly valuable for story progression, as you can make Units of a specific series, which helps when forming your story squads. More details on that next.
You'll also get rewards based on your progress on a Development Diagram, like SP Conversion Chips, which are used to increase the max level of your non-UR Units. While UR Units are definitely the strongest, they are also the hardest to get, and it's more than possible to clear the entirety of the story without using them. This is why it's important to develop new Units using Development Diagrams.
Pay Attention To Squad Formation
Before you deploy on each story mission stage, you'll need to set up Formations for a Story Squad and a Free Squad. Like the name suggests, the Free Squad can be comprised of any Units you own. However, the Story Squad must be filled with Units from the same series as the mission.
For example, if you're deploying on Mobile Suit Gundam Stage 5, your Story Squad can only have Units from Mobile Suit Gundam, like the original Gundam, Zaku II, GM, Guntank, and so on.
Additionally, every Squad is comprised of five Units, five Pilots, and one Supporter. Pilots provide skills that can be used by their Unit in battle, as well as providing that unit with certain buffs. These are also usually tied to Mobile Suits from specific series. For example, Setsuna F. Seiei's third buff provides Units tagged with Celestial Being 15 percent damage reduction.
Finally, each squad can take a Supporter ship into battle, which work like a combination of Units and Pilots. Each Supporter has skills that it can use in battle to aid in combat, like restoring health or EN. Additionally, each Supporter will provide a buff to Units of a specific series in the Squad. For example, Dren and Musai provide 18 percent increased stats to Units from Mobile Suit Gundam.
You'll also want to have an even mix of Attack, Support, and Durability Units. Each role performs a different function in combat, but all contribute to your success, so don't neglect this aspect of your Formation.
When building your formation, you'll need to keep all of these factors in mind for the best outcome in battle. The primary thing to consider is how to take the highest advantage of Story Squad and Support ship bonuses, as these will contribute the best increases to your Squad's stats during story missions.
Be Mindful Of Terrain
Another aspect of Squad Formation is the Terrain the battle will take place on. Every Unit has Terrain that it is suitable for, denoted by a circle (compatible), a triangle (can deploy, but with a debuff), and a line (can't deploy). This means certain Units won't be able to battle in Terrains they are unsuited for, like Gundam Exia (EX) in the Sea.
You'll need to keep these restrictions in mind as you form your squads and upgrade your Units. Relying heavily on one Unit that may become incompatible with a certain type of Terrain can wreck your whole strategy, so you'll need to plan accordingly.
Upgrade Mobile Suits From Different Series
While on the topic of Squad Formation, we recommend upgrading Units, Pilots, and Supporters from a wide range of series, so that you'll be prepared for any Story mission you attempt. At the beginning, this will mean focusing on upgrading Units from Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, as these come first in the story.
However, as you unlock new series, like Mobile Suit Gundam Seed or Wing, you'll want to upgrade Units from the corresponding series so that you can take them into battle.
If you're blazing through the story as fast as possible, it may be difficult to adequately upgrade all the Units you would need to make up full Story Squads. In this case, it may be better to focus on your strongest Units, like the UR ones you get from your initial pulls, as these can then carry the rest of your Formation from your Free Squad.
Replay Stages To Capture Units
As mentioned above, the Development Diagram allows you to construct Units using other Units, Capital, and materials. While sacrificing your hard-earned Units may at first not sound appealing, there's another way to get the Units you need for Development.
In each stage, there is a chance you can Capture a designated Unit when you defeat it, adding it to your arsenal. Capturable Units are mostly made up of N and R-rarity Units, but this makes them perfect to use as fodder for developing into stronger Units.
Be sure to make use of Capture when replaying previous Stages to get the Units you need for Development.
