Well, this is it, the final episode of Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse. This episode manages to tie everything together in a neat package, explaining why and when certain events happened, tugging at the mystery of the psychic toys, and dealing once and for all with Skunkape and some other quite nefarious characters.

Naturally, this involves quite a few nasty puzzles, many of which have to do with Max's bodily functions. And no, not in the way you might think. This is a very fun episode and a fitting capstone for The Devil's Playhouse, so without further ado, let's get to the puzzles.

How To Find A Team Of Highly Trained Experts

The first step in the final episode of The Devil's Playhouse is to find some experts to help you find a way to get eaten by Max.

This stage is very simple and merely a means to introduce you to the episode's cast. You can exhaust the dialogue options here in any order you want, but to progress, you'll need to talk to Momma Bosco - Norrington will volunteer for the job, and Sybil (from previous games in the series) will show up to join.

How To Make Demon Dogs And Eaten By Max

Leave Bosco Tech and talk to Sybil. After learning about the car being able to travel through Max, head to the left and talk to Grandpa Stinky. Speak to him about Corn Dogs and you'll receive the recipe you'll need to follow to get eaten. Also, pick up the box of Corn Dogs near the truck.

Examining the recipe will essentially provide you with a shopping list, but every ingredient has some steps to take.

You'll notice a massive hole filled with water in the middle of the street: this will be our mixing bowl.

How To Get

Pork or Meat Substitute

Near the Desoto, take out a corn dog to get Giant Max's attention and wave it around to get him to pick the car up. Walk on over to the big hole in the ground and eat the corn dog to get Giant Max to drop the car into the pool.

Corn Meal

Near the truck filled with corn meal, take out a corn dog to get Giant Max's attention. Move to the truck so his hand's shadow is over the truck and wave the corn dog. Then, move down the middle of the street and eat the corn dog to make him drop the corn meal into the massive hole.

Vegetable Oil

Head up to Bosco Tech's roof using the fire escape on the side of the building to meet Satan. Talk to Satan and ask him to tell you about what it's like 'Behind the Scenes.' When he's distracted, swap his microphone with a corn dog from your inventory.

Egg

Head into Bosco Tech and talk to Mr. Featherly about an Egg. You'll learn that you need people to look away from him to 'provide' you with an egg.

  • Talk to the COPS about viruses to shut them down.
  • Talk to Momma Bosco about the Dimensional Destabiliser.
  • Tell Superball to turn around.

These three actions must be taken in this specific order, and quickly in succession.

Once you've added the Desoto, vegetable oil, and the corn meal to the impromptu cooking pot, add the Egg and you'll complete the recipe. Use the Corn Dog Desoto to progress.

How To Reach The Brain

You'll begin your journey within Max's body inside his stomach. Leaving this area is quite simple: simply use the Jar of Espresso Beans (that you started with) with the Food Processor in the centre of the kitchen.

Use the tube at the back to progress, then use the Tumour as instructed before opening the door pointed out by Papierwaite.

How To Control Max's Body

Use the Tube to reach Max's head again, and you'll gain access to two new tubes: one that connects to the legs, and one that connects to the arms.

How To Control The Legs

  1. Use the Legs Room Tube.
  2. Talk to Sybil to learn about the broadcast thoughts.
  3. Use the Tube in the back that takes you to the Inventory Room.
  4. Examine the Roach Farm on the shelves to the left.
  5. Attempt to use the Spare Cables on the ground to the right to get turned into a robotic vacuum cleaner.
  6. Ram into the shelves with the Roach Farm on top three times.
  7. Head back up through the Tube and use Sam. Jr on Sybil.

Switch control to Giant Max and make him walk over to Bosco Tech, which can be found by its huge spotlights.

How To Control The Arms

  1. Switch control back to Sam and make your way to the Arms Room.
  2. Use the Arcade Machine that Papierwaite points out.
  3. Max's power here will make you say the opposite of what you pick, so pick the option that is actually opposite to what you see on the screen. Do this three times in a row to gain control.
  4. After the cutscene, head to the Stomach Room and place Sam Jr. on the 'Now Craving' plate.
  5. Talk to Sal.

With control of both the legs and the arms, switch control back to Max and walk him over to Battery Park, which is to the far right of the city.

The following scenes will reveal your next objective after entering the brain door.

How To Get Max's Memories Back And Find Skunkape

After speaking with the Narrator and learning of what's to come, interact with the Memory Book to the right to learn about what this puzzle will entail, interact with the circuit breaker over to the left, and then leave the brain through the door in the background.

Switch control to Max when you decide to go find Skunkape, and then click on Skunkape's ship to 'remember' it. This will earn you a slide to use with the Astral Projector in Max's brain - head there now and use the new slide.

In the cell, you can switch between the three Samulacra to solve the puzzle of reaching the controls:

  1. Use the character switch badge to enter the clone to the right.
  2. Use the fuse box to damage it, then drink some water and spit it at the exposed wiring.
  3. Become the clone on the left and use the hamster wheel.
  4. As the middle clone, interact with the backdrop and then the exposed wires you reveal.
  5. Head to the upper deck and speak to Sammun-Mak's brain. Talk to him about Mole Men repeatedly to progress. Eventually, Grandpa Stinky will show up.
  6. Talk to Grandpa Stinky about everything, including himself, and then ask about General Skunkape.

Once you learn where Skunkape is from, Grandpa Stinky (or, rather, the gorilla inside his body), use the character-switching badge to head back to Prime Sam's body and then switch control back to Max.

Explore the city to find the Cloning Chamber - it's to the right of Bosco Tech. Get Max to 'remember' it and you'll get another usable slide for the Astral Projector. Head back to Sam and use this slide to progress.

How To Get The Cthonic Destroyer And Cure Max

There are a few issues to deal with here, first of all, a laser grid.

  1. Use the Fog Machine on the right to make the lasers visible. This will let you walk right through unharmed.
  2. Walk to the south and talk to Skunkape. You'll need to hear him wish that he had the Toybox again.
  3. Use the Devil's Toybox Photo in your inventory with the nearby Camera on the ground connected to the Projector.
  4. Try to bargain for the Toy Robot, and use 'For This Bomb' as your offer.
  5. Leave the facility through the tunnel on the right that leads to Bosco Tech. You'll end up back inside Giant Max.
  6. Give the Cthonic Destroyer to Sybil.
  7. Use the record collection and take the "Are You There, Great Bear Spirit" record out. Use this with the Record Player.
  8. Reveal the tear duct on the left side of the room, between the tubes to the stomach and arms.
  9. When the record reaches the end of a part, Giant Max will cry, causing the screen to shake. Escape through the tear ducts at this point.
  10. After the scenes, give Max's Snot to Momma Bosco to beat the game.
